North Dakota Babies

Tonight

K won't talk a bottle.  She just chews on it and plays with it.  She won't sleep because her stuffy nose keeps her up.  She has a hard time going to sleep without the boob.  I have created a monster.

I have to go to a wedding tonight.  My grandparents are here to watch K so I could go to the wedding and then go out after with another  couple and Timm and spend the night.  But I am thinking that I can't leave her when she isn't eating and I know she is going to scream when they out her to sleep and everytime she wakes up.

WWYD?  Keep original plans and stay out all night, coming home in the morning or just go to the wedding and come home around 10?  This would be the third time since K was born that I cancelled on this friend for various reasons but all related to K.

Thoughts?

Re: Tonight

  • Can you play it by ear and call home to check in to see how it's going? Another idea- I know this isn't a good practice to get into, but can they fill her up on cereal & other foods so that the bottle won't be a big deal?

  • I thought about the food thing but I am leaving at 12 and won't be back until the next morning.  Don't you think that is too long to depend on solid food to fill her up?

  • Go out planning to keep your original plans. If it is really that big of an emergency, I'm sure your Gparents will call you, and then you can come home.

Its been my experience that our kids act differently when we are not around.  She may pleasantly surprise you and take the bottle from Gmom.  Plus, Gmom will probably be really excited at the thought of getting to feed K some cereal.  It could go really well.

You and T need time to be a couple and be adults and be with friends so try to enjoy it.

I understand your concern, because I am the same way.  It took me too long to get over what could happen and I stayed home way too much.  So I'm giving you a supportive push out the door.

  • A little late for this, but for next time: What about a sippy cup?  Mari LOVES her sippy cup and drinks surprisingly well from it.  I think I may have found MY out!!  Maybe you could try it too?
