Help #2 training my 3 yo

He is excellent about peeing on the potty; so much so that I had to pull over at a Taco Bell so he could go, but when it comes to poop he just goes in his pants. I've been patient, but it is so messy when he goes in his underwear. Should I just put him in pull-ups to save throwing away underwear? Any tips? He is only going to be 3, so I know he is still young for a pt'd boy, but with him going to pre-k 3 full days a week things are getting difficult.

    My dd wasn't poop trained for about 3 months until after she was pee trained (which happened just after 3).  She would ask for a diaper when she wanted to poop.  It seemed so ridiculous but our ped said it was fine and to go with it and not pressure her.  So that's what we did and then she decided on her own when it was time to go in the toilet (actually it was bc I was nursing the baby and told her she had to wait for a diaper or go in the toilet).  So maybe you can get him to at least give you a heads-up so you can put him in a diaper?

    This is my DS who will 3 in Dec.  It is also my nephew who will be 4 in Dec!  It is also my friends DS who turned 3 in July (he just got kicked out of preschool for it).  No solution, I just wanted to let you know you're not alone!

    My DS will poop on the toilet about twice a week.  Generally though, he tells me he has to go and we run to the toilet several times and he never goes.  Then w/in the hour he'll go in his underwear.  Just this week I went back to pullups b/c I'm tired of cleaning the underwear!

    This is my son as well. He'll be 4 in Jan. He tells me that he is scared to go poop in the toilet and that it will hurt. I reasure him it won't and we are not pressuring him. I toss the undies when they get messy but there is no way in Heelll that we are going back to pull ups!
