2nd Trimester

baby kicks keeping me up...

Every night when I go to bed or to lay down to rest this little monkey growing inside me decides its time to practice his kicking and punching. I love feeling him move around esp. when I am awake. After a while he will settle down and then about an hour or so into my sleep he decides its time to play again. He is already very active during the day but way more so during the night, to the point that I am losing sleep over it. I don't remember not being able to sleep so much this early one with my first one... Any one else have a highly active baby at night? Oh and I don't have caffeine and I watch how much sugar I intake...

Re: baby kicks keeping me up...

  • Do you think boys are more active?  Just curious, don't know LO's gender yet, but will next week.

Seems to me baby is pretty active, this is my first and I already think I've been feeling quite a bit of activity.  I thought this was pretty early to be feeling much movement...

PS I am totally caffeine free.

  • Maybe boys are more active! I don't remember my first son being so active though. I started feeling this little guy moving at around 11-12 weeks.

Ps. I see people using all these abvs. for everything like; LO, DH, PP...etc, and I have NO CLUE what any of them mean... Can someone help me!!! lol

  • My baby boy is super active at night! It's fun now... but I have a feeling in a few weeks it could be a little more disruptive. His dancing usually lasts an hour or so and then either he stops or I fall asleep! :)

I do drink coffee a few mornings a week. The mornings I do I can feel him moving around when I'm sitting still at work. I'm sure he probably moves all mornings, I'm just paying more attention when it's a coffee day to see his reaction.

  • I went from feeling faint kicks for a while to where I thought I must have a completely different placenta positioning this time. But within the last week the kicks are so strong I can see and feel them from the outside! And night time, and nap time are this LO's active times! It hasnt woke me up yet but thats not saying much I wake every 45 min. to pee anyway. lol

I started feeling big movements at 19 weeks and this is my first also.  I found out at 20wks that we're expecting a boy.  I kinda knew it was a boy b/c instead of the cute "flutters" everyone talks about my first feelings were spin-kicks and backflips!  I even saw my abdomen move with one of the kicks at 21wks.  He's a strong little guy.  :-)  And he's active every few hrs day and night.  He wakes me up too which, combined with back pain and having a hard time getting comfy, equals very little sleep for me.

  • There is a bump glossary on the left hand side, under all of the different boards.

I am having a boy and he's actually pretty lazy. Most of the time the movement I feel is just stretching and wiggling. Very few actual kicks.

  • My boy loves to practice his dance moves whenever I decide it is sleeping time!  I love being able to feel him more regularly now, and it is no longer flutters but full on kicks and flips....but it would be awesome if he would do more of it during the day rather than when i am trying to sleep!

I am surprised that I am having trouble sleeping so early (the sleep problems started about a month ago), but between the hip pain, my constant need to sleep on my stomach and now my little ninja I don;t think it is going to get any better!

Oh well, I'll take a lack of sleep for this little munchkin, and I figure it is just getting me ready for what's to come....and at least then I'll be able to sleep on my stomach! lol

  • I'm glad you posted this! This is my first pregnancy and my LO is extremely active. Me and DH were watching my belly dance around the other night like there were aliens in there. I love the feeling! He is active pretty much all times of the day, but especially at night! I find myself waking up in the middle of the night because of it but it never keeps me awake for long. I do seem to wake up out of nowhere now several times a night for no reason. I never used to have sleep disruptions. Guess I better get used to it.
  • No caffiene for me either. My little girl is doing the same.I always say she i practicing to be in the Swan Lake Ballet lol.
  • This is my first pregnancy and mine loves to kick and punch and roll around right when i lay down to sleep or nap, yesterday my fiance and i saw my tummy move with the kicks! it was amazing :)
