2nd Trimester

Here's what we have to look forward to ladies.

Re: Here's what we have to look forward to ladies.

  • LOL!!

I never lost my MP (was induced at 35 weeks) BUT, after I gave birth a few days later I got up from my hospital bed to change my pad and I pulled down my awesome mesh panties and I heard a SPLAT...it was a golf ball sized clot. THAT is also awesome to look forward too!

what was worse was the nurse coming in and picked it up and broke it into pieces to check for something...EW!

  • I never lost my mucus plug either, that I know of anyway (I never saw it).  But ditto to the PP- the ginormous clots were all sorts of gross and sort of terrifying.
  • The clots were my WTF moments of giving birth, NOBODY told me about the size of those suckers!
  • I'll be sure to point my DH to this post next time he tells me that pregnancy is sexy.

Ah yes the lovely clots, I swore I was still birthing placenta pieces.

  • If it just FELL out she may want to start thinking about doing some Kegals... just saying.
  • I hope mine doesn't fall into my hot chocolate and then I mistake it for a nice big marshmallow.

  • Sick. I will vomit when that day comes. How come no one warns us about this pre pregnancy? Probably just to spite us or laugh at us when we realize the extra horrors we get to come across

  • i lost mine in pieces.. my HOLY GROSSNESS moment was when I was in labor, got to the hospital and she wanted to check me, after she took her hand out (tmi), my water broke even more all over her pants and her shoes. totally embarrassing. especially when my mother in law was sitting next to me while i was waiting for my husband to get there!
  • This is true, the mucous plug is absolutely disgusting, but is a good sign that birth is near.

  • With my son, I never had my water break or lost a mucus plug. Instead, after DH and I had been intimate, I told him I felt something trickle down my thigh (was laying on my side while DH cleaned himself off first) and thought it was my water, and so he turned on the light. I was wrong- he said, "It's blood, it's lots of blood!" I was sitting in a HUGE pool of blood! We cleaned up what we could and booked it to L&D. The nurse that saw us told me for some women, that WAS the start of labor.

So FYI ladies; A huge loss of blood can also signal labor.

  • Wow I can't wait.  This pregnancy stuff just gets better and better!  (NOT!)  One of my friends who gave birth about a month ago has been cluing me in on some of the "fun" things no one ever tells you.  She didn't mention MPs but she said after she gave birth the nurse had her stand up to walk over to the recovery room from the delivery room.  When she stood up there was a gush and she ended up standing in a pool of her own blood!  The nurse didn't even warn her.

  • I'll never forget the feeling of my water breaking... or the sound! And ditto to the post-partum bleeding- it's pretty much the most disgusting feeling in the whole world and when you feel that gush for the first time, you honestly get this feeling like maybe they forgot something in there.

  • With #1 my MP fell out on my husband's foot while we were at the hospital.  I was standing in the bathroom and he was helping me do something and SPLAT.

It's something neither of us will ever forget, I'm sure...

  • Well, at least I finished eating dinner before reading this... I think they don't tell us about these things pre-pregnancy because if they did, there would be a great deal of reconsideration about the whole reproduction thing.  :)
When it's all said and done, what matters most is your relationships with other people; without good friends and family, what's the point?

  • I lost my MP in a discrete way ... while wiping ... I think at about 37 weeks.

The PP bleeding was the worst.  My BFF said she had like 4 days of bleeding, so thats what I was expecting.  I bled like a stuck pig for 4 weeks ... and continued to spot for another 2 weeks.  And yeah, those clots were HORRIFYING.  The first week PP at home, my bathroom looked like a scene out of Wes Craven movie.  It sucked.
