Thoughts on the Tag reading system?

We bought DD the Tag Jr. last year and honestly she's bored with it and doesn't use it.

Every time we read books she wants us to tell her what each word is.  I saw an ad for the Tag books and was wondering what real moms think of it.  Is it a good system?  Is there a better option out there?  Thanks!

  • We really like it. We completely skipped the Jr. As I understand, you can use the regualr Tag reader for Jr books as well. T will read the stories and then there are a lot of games, or sometimes he'll just flip through and play with all the characters and sound effects. Also, I don' tknow if you can use headphones with the Jr but with ours that has been great for travel.

  • I LOVE the Tag.  I am not a fan of electronic toys at all and the Tag is one of the very few that we own.  I got it reluctantly because Noah loves to read and reads all the time.  I got it mostly to use for travel.  It did not replace the time that I read to him.

I like it because there are alot of non-character books and good quality books by good authors.  I also really liked the "Learn to Read" collections.  Noah started reading on his own at just over 4 years old and now at barely 5 he is reading on a 4th grade level.  Alot of that comes from his natural love of books and reading, but I think the Tag system also helped him to learn and gain confidence in reading.
