Amount of whole milk in 24 hours?

Hi ladies,

What is the amount of whole milk Lo is supposed to be getting in a 24 hour period?
When I asked the pedi, he said not to focus on a number? But I feel like I can't help it.

What does your pedi say about it? Guidelines, anyone?

I was at the pedi this morning for Katie's 12 month appointment and she also said 16-20 oz was a perfect amount. I didn't ask how much she should be consuming 6 months from now, so I don't have a number for an older child.

I've heard 16-24 oz per day, but not because there's "too much", but because of the calorie intake. But I wonder this all the time on those days when it seems like we need to give him TONS of milk just to quiet him down or he's having trouble sleeping.
