I'm going in a few hours to pick up my new/used car. It's a crossover (Ford Freestyle). I'm excited, because we need the space. But part of me feels like I'm getting into a mommy mobile. I wanted a larger SUV, but I have a long commute and don't want to get something with high gas mileage. This one is similar to my current small car. What do you think of cross overs? Are they mommy mobiles? Are they as bad as mini vans (no offense to those who drive mini vans)?
Re: What's your opinion on "crossover" SUVs?
I love them.
I drive a mini-van... if I had had a choice though it would have been an SUV.
It's a toyota Sienna, my swag waggon as the commercials would like me to believe.
I think mine is considered a cross over... it's a Buick Rendezvous with a fold down third row of seats (which we keep up at all times since my 4 year old has to sit there).
Actually, now I kind of wished I had gotten a mini van. The Buick was great when it was just two kids but now that there are three it's so tight. I drove a rental Dodge Grand Caravan when I was having some body work done on my car and it totally changed my view on Mini Van's... it was amazing.
I don't think they are mommy-mobiles like mini-vans but I also don't think they offer much more storage space than a larger sedan.
ETA: Of course this is coming from someone that drives a tank (Nissan Armada) so a crossover might as well be a mini-Cooper for me. Hehe. Enjoy your new car.
no way! i have a cuv --ford edge-- and i LOVE it.
