I hate the thought of buying another crib. DS is so content in it now I don't want to ruin his sleep habits by moving him to a twin bed. DS will just have turned 2 when his brother arrives. What would/did you do?

Re: Moms of 2+: 2nd crib or move DS to twin bed
This is what we got DD. Her crib was recalled, around when she was 18 months or so. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3081868
It turns into a full sized bed for when she's bigger. It also comes with 2 rails instead of just the one that is pictured. Both of the rails can be taken off. We kept 2 rails up at first, until she figured out how to climb over it. It sits very low to the ground, so she didn't get hurt when she climbed over. We love the bed. When we first switched, we just didn't think she was ready for a toddler bed, so I love that it came with the railings.
So we don't actually have two(were going to TCC in May) But I am going to transfer Basil to a daybed next month because she is able to(though, hasn't yet) climb out of her crib if she wants. We are getting this in espresso:
DayBed
Just a thought, since it's cheaper than a new crib. And I like that it has all the sides like a crib and the rail is almost half the length of the bed. Most toddler beds have rails on the side but a lot of them are so short it wouldn't seem like they would keep the kiddo from falling out.
I converted DS's crib to a toddler bed a couple months ago (13 months). He will be 20 months when the new baby comes. The first month went great. then he started having some trouble with nap time. He was too excited to get out and tear his room apart instead of sleeping. He goes down with no problem at nighttime. He may be ready to get rid of one of his two naps now. I figured that this may happen that's why I wanted to try it so early so we can HOPEFULLY get past this before the new baby comes.
We are planning to buy him a new twin bed set soon. So hopefully the transition into that shouldn't be too much different. We'll put the baby in the crib. For now I am just putting him in a pnp for naps for a bit.
