1st Trimester

Need to eat every hour to avoid sickness!

I'm 7w 2d and have had morning (all day) sickness since week 5.  If I eat something every hour I tend to make it through the day.  My stomach literally seems empty every hour and I start to feel like poo.  This is getting really old fast!  Does anyone know if the need to eat all the time will go away in the 2nd trimester?  I don't know if it's just part of morning sickness or if I really will be hungry every hour throughout the whole 9 months!  Yikes!

  • You will feel better in the 2nd tri. I was sick with my son, and by 2nd tri I was back to my normal food craving self. I was nauseous for about a week so far this time, and it was ALL DAY. I was going crazy. But the other day, it just disappeared. I'm hoping it doesn't come back (knock on wood)!

  • You wont be hungry every hr for 9 months lol i think right now since our bodies are using so much energy we are just so hungry this early on. im constantly hungry too but it will subside. Every women is different for the morning sickness I had the entire time my last pregnancy day and night vomiting. this time i am on medication and it makes a difference. I have heard most people say it ends for some by the 2nd trimester.
  • Thanks for posting this!  I'm having the same experience.  If I let myself get hungry (as in normal hungry - not starving), good ol' MS comes for a visit.  But I seem to be hungry every hour!  I thought I was going crazy.  Good luck and hope you feel better soon.  I'm going to go eat something now.
  • Don't feel alone!  Every day I wake up and think "great, here's to another day of eating all day long!".  It's very different for me.  Prior to pregnancy I didn't eat that much in a day.  I weigh around 125 at any given time.  I'm not really that worried about putting on weight because I know that comes with the territory.  It's just hard trying to find something that remotely sounds good to eat every hour!

I SO agree!  I keep thinking the guys (3 males) I work with are going to notice that all of a sudden I'm eating something all day long and I never snacked on anything at work before!  A friend keeps telling me they probably don't notice....that I just think they notice!  Well we are talking about men here!

  • You are not alone!! I'm almost 9 weeks and for the past 4 weeks I have had sickness nearly 90% of my day. Before being pregnant I would always eat several small meals a day, but now I actually find myself not getting hungry. However, I have finally figured out that if I eat when I start feeling nausea (which is a lot) it will prevent me from becoming too sick. So instead of hunger, I get nausea!!! Like someone else said, unfortunately everyone is different so you really just have to find what works for you. I do have to say though, that I am hoping the 2nd trimester is as nice as most make it out to be!!
