Babies on the Brain

Grrr, he got bit again

The daycare girl was watching Oisin and one of the biters play with each other from across the room and he got bit.  She told D she didn't think the girl would bite him.

Really?  You can read a 2 yr old's mind now?  FFS.

I know it happens, but they also know she is a biter and need to be more proactive about preventing it from happening.  My kid is not a freaking chew toy.

Re: Grrr, he got bit again

  • Time to start teaching him to bite back!  Kidding, kidding obviously.  I hope the other boy gets over his biting phase soon.

  • Ya, that's a bunch of crap.  I understand it happens and the room can get busy, and sometimes you can see it happening but not stop it (i.e. changing a child's diaper and the kids are across the room), but if you're just sitting there doing nothing, you need to get up off your asss and move so that you are within arms length of the kids.

I've literally put my arm between two kids to keep a kid from biting.  It only partially worked.  The kid didn't get bit, but my hand did.

I hate this post (Char is the biter(.

    Sad

I know kids bite and that the chances that it will happen in daycare is high, but it's irritating to me that the girl in paticular is so lax about it.  This is the 3rd time he has been bit.

I am with Aramandos on this one. The teacher should be more active.

Toddlers are toddlers.  They are going to bite, plain and simple.  But it's the teacher's responsibility to step up.  You shouldn't feel bad in the least bit, and frankly, there is very little you can do about it if she isn't biting at home, you know?

Oh, no negativity aimed at you. I HATE that my kid bites. I've tried EVERYTHING I know how to even begin doing, including therapy for gosh sake. And I don't blame the other parents but Char happened to bite one kid last Thurs and again on Mon, after 4 days of no bites preceding Thurs and none on Fri, but because it was the same kid and their parents threatened to pull their kid, we had to do half days only the rest of this week and are very close to losing our spot at the school. I effing hate it but I canMt fix it.

Oh that sucks, Fred.  I wish I had advice for you.  Have you tried talking with the ped and teachers to try and find a way to stop it?

I totally understand.  I felt bad the first time it happened, because the one girl bit 3 kids that day.  I felt terrible for the parents.  Then I found out the poor kid is cracked out on sugar all day.  No wonder she bites.

I don't want the kids booted, because IMO biting is serious, but not kick-out worthy unless it is totally out of control.

Char' s problem definitely isn't sugar. She's just... sensory deprived.

All she drinks is "strawberry milk". Pure sugar.  One morning, she was eating a jelly doughnut and mini oreos for breakfast.

WTF?  I thought giving Allie cheetos with lunch was bad.
