Am I starting a bad habit?

H will drink around 7oz of milk in the morning.  I've been trying to get him to at least 10-12oz a day because he doesn't drink much water, but for the last 3-5oz of milk he wants me to hold him next to the fridge so he can play with the buttons.  This is probably a bad habit right?  Should I just let him drink the 7oz of milk and if he won't drink any more tough for him or accommodate him while his teeth hurt?

  • Meh. I wouldn't worry too much about how much he drinks in one sitting. You can always offer more at snack or lunch.
Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.

Sorry I just re-read that and it wasn't clear.  He won't drink any after drinking in the morning unless I hold him by the fridge (which I usually do like 8 hours later).  If I sit him in the chair, or hold him (away from the fridge) he pushes the cup away and screams...or throws it across the room.

Oh. Well, as long as he's good and healthy I wouldn't worry about it too much. Are you still giving him any BM, or is this the only liquid he gets all day? As long as his poops are not hard and he has plenty wet diapers in a day, I'm sure it's something he'll grow out of and I would just try to break the habit.

Well that is BM in a sippy.  He does drink some water.  I guess I'll just see how he does for a few days.  I think he's also getting fluids from his food.  He eats a lot of fruit.

  • I wouldn't worry about a habit. He'll hat bored of wanting to do that soon enough.
  • Hey just be lucky he drinks milk at all!  I'd stand naked in the middle of the road if that's what it took to get my DS to drink milk.  I'm lucky if he drinks 2 oz of milk flavored with strawberry Quik a day!  And as for bad habits, he eats most of his meals running around the livingroom, stopping for a quick bite while I hold the plate in my hand!

Same here!  Though my DS is on pediasure for the extra fat/calories because he doesn't eat or drink enough.  He doesn't really drink that either.
