We are in the very early stages of discussing a nanny position. My good friend put me in contact with her cousin, who is a sophomore in college. We're going to try to set up having her in the house two full days a week (8-5ish). She would drive 20 miles round trip each day.
We are also considering using her just as a regular babysitter, like for a Saturday evening out.
I know I live in a different area that you all, but we have similar pricing here, so I'm guessing it'd be about the same.
What would you pay for babysitting for one infant, and what would you expect to pay for the nanny job? I'd want to pay her a set rate instead of hourly for the nanny gig, or at least guarantee her a certain amount per week even if we came home early from work.
Re: What's the going rate for babysitting/in-home nanny?
The going rate starts at $10 an hour... for a nanny I'd pay more. I'd also kick in an extra $10-$15 a week for driving expenses.
I nanny PT but make much more hourly. I've been with the family for 5+ years though. If you have any questions feel free to ask! I can give you my side.
This.
ETA: When I was a nanny in Orlando they paid me $180 a week for 33 hours (1 child). I drove about 40 miles each way too.
