Spent the morning in the ER

DD fell this morning and hurt her arm when she landed.  I didn't see it happen, but she was shrieking like nothing I've heard before.  She wouldn't eat or drink, wouldn't move her arm or play, and didn't want to be put down.  She just kept crying, whimpering & saying, "Boo boo."

Took her to the ER & they ordered x-rays.  I had no idea if it was her arm, hand, or wrist.  It took 4 people to hold her down for the x-rays, and they wouldn't let me in.  I could only watch from a window.  It was awful.  K was screaming & crying, and they had to tape her arm to the table. 

The x-rays showed nothing, and right after, she seemed perfectly fine & began using her arm again.  They think she dislocated her elbow (nursemaid's elbow) and the struggle with the x-rays popped it back into place.

Oii.  I need a nap.  Tongue Tied

    I'm sorry.  I can't believe they wouldn't let you in.  When DS needed an xray for his finger they had me hold him.  I'm glad she is OK.

    Sounds like you both could use a nap! you poor things...

    Poor girl!!! I'm glad she's feeling better. A friend of mine's LO had an elbow dislocated (I think it was an elbow) - she said the doctors told her it was super common at this age.  Ouch!

    What a day you had.  Glad she is ok.  Try and take it easy this afternoon.

    Poor thing! And poor mama...watching your baby cry like that is awful! Glad she is doing better now!

    Same thing happened to my DD.  She fell out of hte bed (where we used to let her sleep).  She just wasn't using her arm a lot and would wince when she tried.  We had x-rays too and same diagnosis...probably nurse-maids elbow.  I was actually allowed to go into the xray room iwth her though.  I was the one who held her.  It was not stressful at all -- i sang to her and she had no idea what was going on.  Poor thing...they should have let you in!

    This happened to my DD a few weeks ago. My Ob/Gyn actually showed me how to "fix" it if it happens again. LOL.

    Yep.  Super commonn between now and about 4.  Called nursemaid's elbow (or dislocation of the radial head).  Usually its because of a traction type injury - kids holding onto something high and fall, parents swinging their kids by their arms or pulling them by the hand (such as a toddler stepping off a curb into traffic).  Its super easy for the doctor to reduce.  Hope your little one feels better.
