Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone else disgusted with how they look?

I hate how I look. I hate that I thought pregnancy was a free for eating 9 months and now I'm paying the price. I'm having a hard time sticking to a diet and being a stay at home mom isn't helping cause I find myself snacking all day (on crap!) I just joined a gym this week but haven't had a chance to go as things this week were super busy. I just needed to vent and was wondering if anyone else is out there as disgusted as I am.

  • I'm with you on the free for all eating during pregnancy. I told my co-workers that they should have taken the doughnut out of my hands when I was pregnant!! I gained 50 pounds. I have lost most of it, but my belly is so flabby and I just hate exercising. I know that I can make time, but I don't. I have a huge project that will be done on the 27th and after that I have to start exercising!!!

  • I'm not disgusted with how I look, but I understand how you feel.  Having a baby changed my body, but my DS is worth it.

GL going to the gym.  Make it a high priority since it will give you mommy time.

  • I'm in the same boat.  I still have a huge spare tire and other trouble spots.  I thought I'd lose the weight rather quickly because I was in really good shape before I got pregnant, but it's been the exact opposite.  I also feel deprived because I don't eat any of the sinful foods I used to devour daily before I got pregnant.  I got pretty desperate this week and ordered 2 tae bo workout dvds.  One is a postpartum workout that really targets the core and the other is a cardio workout.  I'm also doing a bit of yoga at night, which is the only time I have to workout.  Oh yeah, I got a bad haircut so now my hair's all poofy, frizzy, butchered...looking like hell.
  • I'm in a different boat, not weight that is getting me down but rather just not having the time to take care of myself.  I'm picking my sister up at the airport in an hour and I know I'm going to feel about 2 inches tall.  She always looks fabulous and well put together.  I'm living on 3 hrs of sleep and have been dealing with a really sick baby.  It shows!  On top of everything I've totally just broken out in zits... WTF????  UGH!!!  I feel so blah and ugly!

  • Yes...and I lost all my pp weight at my 6 week pp appt.  BUT, now I know I gained some back.  Things are getting tight and I'm even trying ot watch what I eat.  I really want to start working out again.  I tried once I went back to work but had to put my membership on hold.  There is not enough time in the day for it...that is my excuse!

  • I don't know if this helps you but I saw a BIG body change from 6-9 months. It wasn't so much that I lost a ton of weight but more that my body went back to normal. I don't know how to explain it since I didn't chance my habits too much. So perhaps there is hope?
  • Yes, and I don't have the motivation to do a damn thing about it either.  I have about 30lbs I'd like to lose.  I'm becoming resigned to the fact that I'm just stuck with the extra weight.  DH still tells me he thinks I'm beautiful, sexy, etc...but I'd feel better if I lost a little poundage.
  • I feel the same way.  I keep thinking that it will magically come off since I'm so active, but it still hasn't.  I wish I had time for the gym.

  • Sorry you feel that way.  I am definitely not thrilled with how I look either.  There's definitely more squishiness around my middle now, but what I really hate these days is my skin.  It looks so much more tired and old, and it's breaking out!  Yuck.  I blame it on lack of sleep!

  • i m w/ francisca - its not just that i feel lumpy (although i ve lost my pg weight, its just redistributed so i still feel bigger) but that i just cant seem to make the time to do things that are nice for me.  i m breaking out something terrible, i can never do my hair, and why bother w/ much nice looking when just being home?  its tough and i m sorry that youre feeling this way.  gl w/ the gym!  (i wish i could have time to work out!)

  • I'm not "disgusted" but I am definitely unhappy about my weight/appearance.  I was sick for 7 out of 9 months of my pregnancy and was at my goal weight shortly after giving birth...but, as soon as I started eating like a normal person again, I gained about 25 pounds.  I haven't been this heavy in years and I am not happy about it.  So far, all of my attempts at eating healthier and dieting have failed and I haven't been able to take off more than two pounds.  It's very frustrating!

  • I had lost all of my pregnancy weight plus some by one week pp. However, I had to go on high doses of steriods after ds was born (and for the next 7 months) and those made be BALLOON up. I now weigh 7 lbs MORE than I did the DAY I GAVE BIRTH! I am really, really disgusted with myself. On a positive note, I got to come off the steriods about a month ago and have since lost 2 lbs even though I haven't changed my eating habits. I think if I can get myself to eat better and work out I can shed some of this.

  • I understand!  I used to work out all of the time and loved it. Now I am a SAHM and I eat way more (and lots of junk!) and I am not motivated to work out AT ALL.  My clothes are getting smaller, but I never go anywhere anyways, so I'm in my sweats which always fit, lol.  I have a treadmill and eliptical in the basement, I really don't know what my excuse is!

  • Yep - I joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago and wish I had done it sooner!  I kept thinking I could do it on my own, but I got stuck.  I've already lost 5.5 lbs and it's been pretty easy to follow.  I finally joined b/c it was getting cooler and none of my pre-pg pants fit so I literally have no pants except my maternity pants, which I'm SICK of!
  • I lost most of my pregnancy weight, but then I plateaued. Once I started taking Zoloft, I noticed I started losing weight again. I feel smaller again, though I could lose a few more pounds. The dr told me that once I stop BF, that I should lose the remaining weight. But I ALSO can't stand the fact that I have like no time to do my hair or take care of myself anymore. It seems like DD is constantly pulling at my leg whining whenever I try to get ready at home.
