What would you consider a normal gain at 18 weeks? I had an appointment and gained 4 in the past month. My total is 7 and my doctor told me that was too much for all the further along I am, then told me my baby is probably 15-18 inches long.
I didn't think I was doing bad at all as far as weight gain goes, but now she has me paranoid i'm gaining too much too quick.
Re: Normal weight gain 18weeks
at 17 weeks i had a total weigh gain of 8 lbs... My midwife was happy with that weight...
I'm seriously considering switching doctors. This is not the first time she has screwed up like that. She told the receptionist I was 28 weeks at my 14 week appointment and told me I was due January15th.
I know it isn't that long. DD was only 21 inches when she was born. I about died. With my DD I had gained almost 20 pounds at 18 weeks, but that was 6 years ago.
I'm at exactly 17 weeks, and I've only gained about 3 pounds...I got yelled at by the guy who did my vitals that I wasnt gaining enough. Then my midwife told me it was ok, because I am on my second, so my metabolism is faster, plus I'm chasing after a 2 yo. With my first, I had gained 10 pounds at 16 weeks. It just depends on you. There is no way really to determine if you gain too much or too little.
She said the baby is 15-18 inches at 17 weeks? No way!
Please! There were several times (at least 2) during my early pregnancy where I had gained 9 lbs in 1 month!!! The Dr told me it was too much too, but you can't starve yourself and as long as you are eating not pure junk food 24/7 and you and your baby is healthy then whatev
Oh..I never had GD either
What the??? The baby might be 15-18 centimeters! Maybe that's what she meant.....
And you almost at the 1/2 way point. How can 7 lbs be too much? I would switch docs if I were you.
Keep in mind that weight gains should also depend on your normal stature. How tall are you? We're you over weight or under weight to begin with? That being said, I think 7 lbs for ANYONE can be considered normal at 18 weeks (not that I'm a doctor or anything.)
yeah, so at 20 weeks i had gained about 16 lbs, at 16 weeks, 11, so that is my normal....you are well within an average weight gain, so I think you doc is nuts.
i just had my last appointment at 24w5d and had added 9 lbs in one month for a total gain so far of 25 lbs. the doc said he wouldn't even "yell" about my weight gain, for when i was pg with DD, I had a 15 lb jump in the same 4 week time period...for a total gain of 60 lbs...never had GD and lost all of the weight....my mom also gained 60 lbs when she was pg with me...
everyone gains weight differently during pregnancy, and as long as you are growing right, the number shouldn't matter....i'm trying to watch what i eat so i dont gain 60 lbs this time, i am trying to keep it a 40 lbs.
good luck
