Etopic Pregnancy?

MY EARLIER POST...

Hi ladies... My husband and I did IVF with ICSI (ER 9/23 and ET 9/28). I had a positive HCG blood test last Thursday, but levels were really low, so they have tested me 2 more times...

10/7 - level 9, 10/9 - level 18, 10/11 - level 44 (I posted this a few days ago)

I started with brown discharge and then spotting on Friday 10/8, which them turned to light bleeding on Saturday 10/9.  The light bleeding/spotting continued through Tuesday 10/12 on and off.  I was having some kind of abdominal pain the whole time - a mixed feeling of cramps and stretching. Yesterday the light bleeding stopped and then I started having brown spotting/discharge again and I still to this moring.

My MD says everything is ok and to just try to relax.  They have me scheduled for another HCG blood test next Thursday and an u/s next Friday, but I feel like I am going nuts!   I took a home pregnancy test and it came out positive but the "you are prego" line was really faint.

I have called in sick this whole week to stay home and just rest with my feet up, which hopefully has helped a little.

ADVICE please... I feel like a nut! Thanks ladies for listening.

I just got a call from my MD and she wants me to come in and do another set of bloodwork tomorrow morning because she is worried it might be an etopic pregnancy.  God I really hope not! :(

Your thoughts?

  • I wouldn't let the spotting/discharge discourage you too much.  I have had spotting/discharge with this pregnancy and with my DS.  I had an ultrasound today and baby looks fine and heartbeat is good.  Spotting doesn't always end badly.  Good luck!!

  • that's reassuring.. thank you so much!!  My nerves are shot at this point.  I am so scared.  All I can do is hope for the best and leave it in God's hands.  But just hearing my MD say it's a possibility is freaking me out!!

Thanks so much for the words though... glad ot know.

  • I also hear that ectopic pregnancies are CRAZY painful. Like, OMG I can't breathe it hurts too much painful.

The waiting sucks but only a dr can answer this. I hope it all turns out.

  • well luckily I haven't had any pain like that... a little cramps that come and go but not even like period cramps - super mild.

I guess I just have to wait till tomorrow... thanks for the info!!

  • Wanted to reiterate that spotting doesn't always end badly. I had cramping and spotting early on, but everything so far has turned out okay 4 weeks later... Trust your doctor and try not to worry!

    Take care!

  • Thank you SO much!!  I hope the same goes for my case. I'm trying to not worry... why can't things just be easy? :{

  • I am a lurker here but thought I would interject. I had an ectopic pregnancy last year and the pain made my typical monthly cramps feel like a day at the beach. I was also experienced bleeding like a very heavy period as well. We just discovered that we are 4 weeks pregnant now and are very worried since my last ectopic makes me high risk for another. I am having some spotting and like you, my doctor also asked me to do more bloodwork today so that she can monitor my HCG levels which are also very low partly because I am so early on. So I am also doing a lot of waiting and worrying as well. I have realized that I can not control it and what will be will be. We are hopeful for the best and I truly feel we will both be ok.

My doctor also said that the pain from an ectopic does not go away, it stays with you until it is terminated.

  • thanks so much for the words... I hope for the best for you too. It's so nice to have this outlet to hear from all these ladies in similar situations - def puts my mind at ease a little.

    All the best!
