at one of my monitoring appointments for this very regulated injectable IUI cycle, my RE said I could be an egg donor. I have more than 40 antral follicles (and with about a million appointments I actually only ended with one for sure big enough, maybe a second for the IUI last week). But I've been thinking about what she said and being on here and seeing how many different IF problems there are, maybe once I have my problem figured out PCOS with annovulation and assuming I have good eggs and its just a matter of Oing, that maybe I'd think about donating my eggs.
But I was looking at some websites and I wouldn't qualify for any of the programs I found online. I'm 31, so I'd be at least 32 or 33 if I did it. I'm also overweight maybe 35 pounds, which I'm working on losing, but I wonder if maybe there are less strict rules for the donor. I wonder if it's worth exploring more with my RE after I'm able to get PG.So I'm just sort of thinking outloud - would you as a potential recipient not want eggs from someone in their mid thirties and is slightly overweight (but otherwise healthy: low BP, low cholesterol, non-diabetic, active, etc)?
I'm just wondering if it's worth my continued thinking as an option in the future - I'd be thrilled beyond belief to be able to help a couple out.
Re: Donor eggs
I considered being one in the future too...I figure we will see what my eggs look like during this IVF though. I know I have a lot, I just don't know how great quality they are...
I think it is awesome that you are considering doing it though hon! I am not sure how strict the guidelines are for accepting someone as donor.

It is so great that you are thinking about doing this! My biggest factors in choosing an egg donor were similiar physical features to me, medical history, educational background, personality, etc. Age wasn't as important to us, especially if the donor was proven.
To be completely honest, I think I would be hesitant to choose a donor who had experienced IF (unless it were strictly MFI), but I would have to look at the whole picture. That may make me a little nervous, though.
I wish you the best!

I kind of agree with this. With the amount of money we may be forking out for DE, I really want the best. But the most important thing for me would be being physically similar to me and being a proven donor.
Have you considered doing a split cycle? Another couple would pay for half your IVF cycle and get half of the eggs your produce, you get the other half - I think that is how it works. I guess it wouldn't be an issue if you have insurance for IF. But if you are OOP, it would be a way to help with your costs plus help out another couple.
Thanks all for the input. At first when she mentioned it, it didn't really register, but I've been thinking about it for a while now as something to discuss with her in the future if we get to IVF and have a successful retrieval and good eggs. The split cycle thing would be interesting idea as well.
And I get the hesitation about receiving an egg from a donor with known IF/PCOS - I'd definitely have concerns too.
And I think if we ever did IVF and after we had the number of babies we wanted we'd place our embies up for adoption which is another way to help .
