I posted before about trying to decide where to hold my son's first birthday party and now I've narrowed it down to deciding we will do a lunch out for friends and family and have cake/open gifts at the restaurant. So that settled the question is where. I want it to be nice (family style would be great) but not crazy expensive. I emailed Symposium because I've heard great things about them. I tried to email the Brasserie but the mailbox is full so I guess I have to call them. I'd like a private room or section so we don't disturb others (there will be a lot of young kids) and preferably somewhere that at least serves beer/wine so we can offer it to the adult guests. We are looking to do a lunch on a Sunday in January. Probably from noon until 2 or 3pm. Guest list would be up to 18 adults and up to 13 kids (ages 1-7) if everyone attends (could be as little as 12 adults and 8 kids).
Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommondations? TIA!
Re: Any ideas about where to hold a birthday lunch in Lancaster area?
I am not sure what kind of food you want to have, but Your Place on Route 30 has a buffet. They have a few different varities you can pick from - pizza/stromboli buffet or a nicer family style dinner. I believe it is ham and all of the fixiings. They serve alcohol, obviously. And you get your own room.
The Steam Boat Inn also on Route 30 is another suggestion. The Fireside Tavern on 896. I know they do wedding receptions there and baby and bridal showers there. Their dining room is set up in sections, so maybe they could give you a section.
Symposium is nice. Love the Brasserie too. Maybe Tobias Frogg on Columbia Ave.? Downtown at Annie Bailey's? Loxley's in Centerville maybe?
If I think of others, I'll let you know.

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I'm running into some problems with a Sunday lunch too. Symposium and The Stockyard are closed Sundays and Old Greenfield Inn (which I love and live right by) only does brunch until 2pm on Sundays. I'm checking with DH to see if he can take off a Saturday so we have more options.
Have you been to Your Place? Is it appropriate for kids being there? I've only seen it from outside and wasn't sure what it was like.
After some thought and calculating we decided to go with renting out the indoor pool at our apartment complex instead. We can get it for 3 hours for like $75 so it's a steal and plenty of room to have food and sit around.
Thanks for all of the tips!
Glad you found a place. And, yes, I think YP would be appropriate for younger children. It is separate from the bar. You enter on the side, by the motel next door. And you can rent your own room for privacy.
