Help! Aka and anyone else with tween girl experience

I'm spending the evening at a friend's house while she and the rest of our group of friends hit up the clubs. I'm too socially awkward to join them, and when her 8th grade sister whom she has custody of heard I would be home alone too (DH will be at work) she made a joke about me spending the night with her and I laughingly agreed. Friend told me last night the little sister is REALLY excited about it and wanted to know if I was serious when I agreed. Of course I said I'd do it.

She has no friends and I really just want her to have fun.  She said she just wanted to watch some movies, and mess around online. Do I bring anything? Games? Girly pedicure stuff? Food? I feel like a nerd but I have no idea what to do with a kid over 10. I think she's 13 or 14.

  • Movies, popcorn, junk food, maybe a couple of magazines (seventeen, cosmo girl).  Pedicure stuff would probably be good too.

  • Makeup, hair stuff, mani/pedi, popcorn and a movie, ice cream, etc. Anything that'll be out-of-the-ordinary type stuff. Maybe some silly "Truth or Dare" stuff.
  • She has makeup, and I don't see her as the dress up type. She was already forced to grow up fast since everyone in her life died, killed themselves, or is in jail. Her sister is my age and was the only one who could take her. I like the lighthearted movies idea. Though do you think something like a trip to the mall would be fun? We could try on prom dresses in the jr section or something. That's grown up ish right?

  • I teach 12-13 year olds.

They would love the mani-pedi idea. And girly movies. Maybe even some classics - Grease/Clueless! She may have not seen those.

Maybe bring some magazines. And my kiddos love the Disney channel shows.

  • Make your own pizzas....get the mini-boboli crusts and toppings and let her make her own pizza.  Nonalcoholic girly drinks....cranberry/pineapple/orange and sprite.  Ice cream sundaes.  Mani?pedi for sure.  I agree with PP:  clueless is a great movie.  My niece is 14 and has been over the princess diaries movies for a couple of years now.  Can you get the first season of glee?

  • 10 Things I Hate About You!!! I loved that movie and still do to this day.

  • I like the DIY dinner/junkfood idea. I'll grab some nail polish and other mani/pedi stuff before I head over along with some magazines and maybe show her how to whip up some of the face masks/deep conditioning treatments I make. They have netflix so we should be able to find something she likes. Phew. Ok you guys made me feel better about this. I think I'm just overthinking it.

This is cracking me up. Don't get me wrong, I love both movies, especially Clueless, but they aren't what come to mind when I think of classics. :p

OMG I loved loved loved trying on prom dresses when I was in middle school. I haven't thought about that in years! I'm sure the salespeople hated us, lol.
