3 month old hurting me while nursing...

I know he doesn't mean to, but my DS has been hurting me the last week while nursing.  He kicks his little legs, scratches my chest/neck/face, hits me.  When I act like I'm hurt he gives me a giggle and or smile. 

He nurses during this but he is busy looking around too.  Sometimes he nurses for a minute then pulls off, then goes back on, etc.

I have tried to nurse in more quiet places like his nursery, our room.  I hold his little hand but he gets mad that I'm restraining it.  Ugh. I didn't think I would have to deal with this until he was 5/6 months.

If he were older I'd just tell him that that wasn't nice and put him down.  But at this age, I don't think he will understand.   Any ideas?

    DS has started doing the same to me. There's not much I can do about the squirming, although a lot of times its a sign that he's gassy. As far as the scratching goes, I cut his nails so he can try to scratch me but it doesn't actually hurt my skin. That' sreally all the advice I've got. GL!

    DD is very distracted while nursing, she waves her arm, pinches, bats, does leg squats almost. I give her a burp cloth to hold and tuck her other arm down kinda underneath my arm (in cradle hold) and she is somewhat better, she waves the burp cloth back and forth in the air.

    DD went through this stage but it was much later!  Try giving LO a soft toy or burp rag to hold onto.  I also always tried to nurse in DD's bedroom AND in the dark so she couldn't see anything to be distracted by.  Good luck!
