Are you all really going to use it, or are you going to use what you wash everything else in? If you don't use the baby detergent what are you going to use?

I bought Tide free and clear and will be using that on all the laundry, not just LO's. You're not supposed to use regular detergent on LO's clothes because it has perfumes and dyes in it, which LO can be sensitive to.

anything that's labeled "baby" or "free and clear" are safe. I prefer purex baby because it's cheap and smells sooooo good

I started washing my own clothes in it already so my dog can get used to the small haha

I'm using a F&C too. We've already started using it on our regular laundry so that by the time LO is here everything should pretty much be non-perfumed.

i put a thing of dreft on my registry, but once that's gone, i'll probably get a more common brand's equivalent.

I bought some All Free & Clear to use for baby. I'll probably use that for baby exclusively and continue to use the detergent we use for our clothing for everything non-baby related.

I use Purex Naturals on all of our clothes. I use the apples and pears one. I used the same stuff since before DS was born.

I bought some Dreft to try before I had done any research and man, that crap stinks!

I'm super allergic to perfumes and floral smells and immediately had a reaction. I will never use that stuff again.

After doing my research, it turns out that the Cheer Free and Clear I had been using all along will do just fine. I also use Downey Free and Clear fabric softner.

The only thing is- neither of the products I currently use will work on cloth diapers. I'm trying out different laundry soaps to see what I like and that product will be used only on the CDs.

I have a question about dryer sheets though... Are you guys using or not using dryer sheets with things for the baby? I'm sure what to do there and have used that as my excuse for not washing anything yet.

i did buy a huge container of dreft when we were at bj's, but once that's finished her clothes will be washed in the regular tide that we use, minus the fabric softener.

Nah, I think it's a waste of money. We use Purex free and clear anyway so I'll just use that for baby stuff too.

Lately I've been washing everything for the baby in the regular stuff we have...although it might be a free and clear one, I'm not really sure. Once I do the laundry all the time for the baby I will buy a special one and probably just use it for everyone since detergent is so expensive. But the family I baby sat for just used regular tide and never had issues. Although I'm going to cloth diaper, so I don't want regular detergent on that.

I'll try googling it to see what I come up with. I'll probably end up using one too. I have this funny image in my head of our baby being a little ball of static and everything clinging to her.

I use Tide Free and Gentle on all our clothes now because it barely has any smell to it and plan to use that when little one arrives too. You should make sure to wash all your clothes or care givers clothes with a free and gentle detergent too because the baby's skin will be rubbing up against their clothes as well. My mom is going to make the switch when the baby arrives too for this reason

I just bought 7th Generation Free and Clear because it was on sale and cheaper than the Tide Free & Clear I was planning to buy. I don't have a reference for this, but I think the reason for no dryer sheets is that they degrade/destroy the fire retardant that is in baby clothes.

We are cloth diapering too and the detergent we used wasn't recommended, so we just switched to Planet (I could order it off Amazon and get free shipping) and we will be washing all ours and LO clothes along with CD laundry too. Prob not going to use dryer sheets in LO's laundry since ours have a scent to it, and I know I can't use them with the CD laundry since it does something to the diapers.....

They actually have free and clear dryer sheets too. I picked up a box of those, but I forget the brand. We registered for a few bottles of Dreft, but we'll probably end up using All Free & Clear b/c we already use it b/c I have sensitive skin. poor me.

But either way, it's MH's problem- he does all the laundry!

We are using Purex which is already free and clear. We've been using it for our clothes for a few years because DH has sensitive skin, so we already have a bunch of it here.

I will use Dreft at first, mostly because I have sensitive skin, so I'm worried about her at first. After that's done all laundry will be done in Tide Free and Clear.

We have the dryer balls (they're nubby-type soft plastic balls that kind of look like a dog toy) and I think they work quite well to reduce static. I won't be using dryer sheets, but I already have to avoid them because a lot of DH's work clothes have flame-retardant material on them. As for detergent, I already use Tide Free & Clear (or whatever it's now called) and plan to just keep using that.

Use anything FREE AND CLEAR (Tide, Cheer, Purex, Ecos-from Sams).

I'd avoid Dreft as it actually contains some irritating agents for sensitive skin, & it's way overpriced.

Do NOT use fabric softener nor dryer sheets for any baby clothes. This breaks down the fire retardant coating on baby clothes/items.
