Any tips out there? I gained 62 pounds last time!! yikes, it wasn't pretty! I work with a trainer now and am trying to get back into working out, I recently fell into a slump but I think the pregnancy may motivate. I've also started weight watchers again and put that i was nursing so i get extra calories... any other tips/suggestions appreciated!
Re: 2nd pregnancy - trying to control weight this time...
Weight Watchers suggests that you stay off the program while pregnant. Even with the bf calories, you will still be on the weight loss track.
Try babyfit.com That site is a spinoff from Sparkpeople and caters to pregnant women.
Just workout, eat right and the pounds should stay within range. I recently lost 50lbs and that's the advice my doctor gave me!
This was my issue the 1st time around as well. I would sit and eat half a cake because "I was pregnant and I can eat whatever I want"
With my 2nd, I actaully craved fruit so it wasn't as bad but this time around, I just know better. I just don't give in and so far I have lost weight (and not because of morning sickness as I haven't had much of that yet) I was at the convience store yesterday and really wanted a chocolate bar but just took a breathe and told my self no, you or the baby do not need this.
I know it's hard to control the cravings but I have learned that you CAN actually do it.
Good luck!
This is my first pregnancy but my mom gained 75lbs with both my brother and I. Her advice to me (because she knows how much I LOVE food) was this:
If you are craving something no matter what it is have one or two bites, three bites max unless it is something healthy! That way you satisfy the craving without over indulging.
If you are craving something sweet eat a piece of fruit or one piece of hard candy.
Walk, walk, walk, walk, walk! LOL...unless you can't due to restrictions.
Hope this helps!
thanks for the feedback, I'll check out the alternative weight watchers site!! I'm sorry though I have to disagree with some of you, there is NO WAY I can lose weight with an extra "10 points" a day, that is well over an additional 300 calories per day which is probably more than I should have extra. I don't think of WW as a "diet", the reason I like it is because it has the little check boxes, tools and ways to track how much fruit, veggies, good foods, bad foods, etc... to keep me in line.
If I had the self control to only have a bite or two or to try and eat smaller portions I probably wouldn't have gained 62 pounds the first time (hehe). I do better when I have something to hold me accountable!
