2nd Trimester

Vent..Is it normal to be jealous of other womens baby bumps?

I know this is all my fault for already being overweight (30lbs) in the fist place but I'm 22 weeks along and as much a my belly is growing it's not nearly as cute as all the other women that were skinny when they got pregnant.  Their bellys are just soo cute and makes me say awweee...  I don't get that reaction when I see mine...it's still filling in..I don't know why it's bothering me so much today..I've just some belly shots that where so cute that made me a little upset....just had to vent and maybe see if there were other women that maybe felt the same way.

  • I obsess about my bump. I think DH is starting to get tired of hearing about it. I'm 15 weeks and I just look like I haven't been to the gym in a month (true). I look at all the other 15 weekers out there and see these cute rounded bumps and I just get super jealous.

  • YOU CAN HAVE MINE. Seriously. I'm waddling around like a friggin' penguin.
  • I'm 16w 5 days and I have absolutely no bump. I hate it, and envy the women with bumps, but know mine will come.
  • Yes!  I was well into my 3rd trimester with DD before I had a nice bump (I am and was overweight).  This time, I am seeing it faster, but it still isn't as cute as everyone elses, which makes me sad sometimes.

  • 19 weeks today and nada.  And yes...  I get jealous.  I know that in the end I will regret it, but at this point, I would love to have a pg belly.

  • I am a plus size mama-to-be.. I have those days too where I get a little jealous, but when I look down and see my growing bump, it puts a smile on my face.. Who cares if skinny woman have cute little bumps? I've got an extremely cute one goin on myself and I dare anyone to say anything different!! Smile
  • I'm overweight myself. Everyone's body is different, doesn't make it any less cute than a skinny woman's bump though in my opinion!

  • I was totally thinking the same thing this morning.

I think it's very interesting to see how everybody's bump is so different. On hump day bump day when I see some of those cute bumps I wish mine looked more like that. I'm short and was somewhat thin so I thought I would have a cute bump but nope, it takes up my whole torso (from under my boobs down to my pubic bone). I carried the same way with DS 1.

I don't know. I'm super happy and it's so not a big deal but I still get a little jealous sometimes. I think it's natural.

  • Ugh, I hate my bump...it just makes me look like I'm fat since the belly is growing sideways more than upfront, plus the fact that I'm short (5'),it makes me look as tall as I'm as wide.

  • I think it's totally normal.  As a society, we are always comparing ourselves to others and I think pregnancy enhances that.  We are supposed to be at a-b-c milestones at x-y-z weeks, which means we are comparing ourselves to others.  Then add the insecurities pregnancy adds and we make a great group!  I compare my bump all the time and feel jealousy creep up when I see bumps that are cuter than mine.  I think I figured out today that I don't mind being pregnant, but I'm never going to be one of those "fertile goddesses" because I'd just much rather get on with the show and have the baby already - I'm very impatient like that.  Anyway, hang in there.

  • I also started out overweight and for the first 18wks I just looked like I grew a spare tire.  Crying  Now that I am almost 26 wks it is finally starting to look like a regular ol' baby bump.  Of course it still looks a little too much like "B" to me rather than "D".  Embarrassed

I really don't have one yet either except when I get bloated ;) Looking forward to when it starts to actually look like there's a baby in there!

THIS! I just ran to Starbucks with my coworkers and one of them asked about my shirt. I told her it was maternity and she was like, "Really? You don't even look pg, why would you wear maternity?"

When I'm nekkid, I feel like I have a huge baby gut. I'm I'm fully dressed, not so much. I think I need to start wearing my non-maternity clothes again so people can REALLY see the bump.

But the maternity clothes are more comfortable even when the bump is small. I've worn some maternity pants and sometimes I feel silly about it cause there's not much of a bump there, but then when I put on regular pants they just aren't comfortable unless they're sweats.

  • I'm jealous of my OLD baby bump!! With DS I was basically all belly (and I started off "overweight") it was perfectly shaped. Now i look down and wanna barf. :-/ I really hope and pray that my belly will look like that again!
  • Honestly, I'm a small girl and I still didn't have a cute bump until like 24+ weeks. I just looked like the old me with a squishy beer gut.
  • I'm not a big girl, either, but I didn't get any semblance of a bump until just around 19w5d. Now I'm 28w and I'm officially a duck lol

I know what you mean, though, because for the longest I looked like I ate a lot of Mexican food and I used to go to the store and say "Man, I can't wait until I look like her." Now I'm dealing with lower back pain and not being able to get comfy at night. So enjoy it while you can!

  • I get jealous too. I used to wonder if I'd look pregnant by Halloween. Now I wonder if I'll look by Thanksgiving. :(

But I keep telling myself that I'm more comfortable not having a bump, so I'm trying to remember to live in the moment.

  • i feel the same way! i obsessively do google image searches for the week that i am pregnant and then compare my "bump" and each time im jealous!

i just look chubby, its not round, its more like a speedbump. it hasn't quite made it to my belly button yet so its just a low lump. and for some reason it kinda caves in at my belly button so its kind of a B-shape!! i hate it! i wear maternity pants cuz they're so comfy and i feel like im only getting wider too so my pre-preggo pants are impossible. when i see other pregnant women i look at their pretty bumps and wonder how far along they are and how i compare. i hope my bump fills out and looks like a real baby bump soon instead of this B-belly speed bump thing.

i'm glad im not the only one with bump envy.

  • I didn't really get any bump-ness until I was 19 weeks, before that I just felt like I looked like I ate too much. Even so now that I have an obvious bump and everyone I know comments on it no strangers can tell im even pregnant, or if they can are too scared to ask. I have had a few people say 'you dont even look pregnant' which is strange to me and my husband because I look really obviously pregnant.

  • I'm smaller and still don't look pregnant. I look like I gained a few pounds (which is ironic because I am still not up to my pre-pregnancy weight since I lost 15 pounds the first trimester vomiting). I have to listen every day to my preschool parents talk about how not pregnant I look... still. At 21 weeks. I'm sure looking back I will think about how great it was, but for now I would like to look a little pregnant!! :)
