Re: Low Supply Check-In
First time posting on this topic, but I've been dealing with low supply since DD was 2 weeks old (she is now 6 weeks old). I've done everything suggested by my lc and here but I just can't keep up with her demands. Currently she is being supplemented with formula and due to her 6 wk growth spurt she has been taking in more than usual amounts of formula and I have had to call her pedi due to her grunting like she is trying to poo and extreme gassiness.
I pump afer her daytime feeding and get nothing. I have ordered domperidone so I hope that works as that is the last resort for me to increase my supply. I also go back to work in a week and with no freezer stash that makes me sad that she will get more formula for the first day than bm until I pump something at work.
Jewels- same thing happened with us. We got domperidone right around 6 weeks. I also got a hospital grade pump for about 6 weeks and the combo of the pills and the pump REALLY helped me. I went from pumping 10oz a day to 30ish and I went from no stash to about 80oz. Its small, but something compared to nothing! Rent yourself a hospital pump and see if helps. GL!
I am having a tough week, myself. I had to give my hospital pump back, and I think its affecting my supply. It might just be mental, and I used to be so satisfied pumping 2oz/session, but I was getting 3 and I don't want to go back down. I am also running out of domperidone, which scares me because it helped me so much and I don't want to go back to where I was. We are also flying to NYC this weekend for two weddings, one on Sat and one on Sun, and this is going to be a real test of my dedication to pumping and to see if my supply goes back down. I will be pumping in a car, in the airport, on the plane, in hotels, in bathrooms, etc... this weekend. Hoo-ray. Wish me luck and send me good supply vibes!

This week (well, probably since last Thursday) has been quite trying. I'd been dealing with a milk blister and it finally worked itself open. It was exceptionally painful to nurse, but I at least forced myself to pump which was only slightly less painful. DD has also been working on her top 2 teeth, which cracked my other side.
So, 2 scabby nipples later, both are starting to heal but it's still tender. I think it may have made a little difference working the milk blister open, because I pumped an extra 1/2 oz this morning. We'll see what happens from here.
Still debating on getting the Mothers Milk Special Blend - Mothers Milk Plus did nothing for me, so I don't know if I want to shell out more $.
Oh well, hopefully this coming week will see more healing and more milk production as a result.

How long did you see and increase in your supply once you started taking dom?
GL this weekend. I'm sure thinhs will go great. Can you rent the hospital pump again if you think that may be helping in your supply?
I'm going backward for some reason. I got to where I was pumping almost 3 oz/session. Now I'm only getting about 2 oz. So we had to send formula to day care which really, really stinks.?
I'm trying to up my water consumption. I will see if that helps. ?
My dom arrived on Saturday so today is day 5 of it--I'm noticing a small increase, pumping almost 2 oz. which is up from 1.5 in a session. I know, pitiful, but it's baby steps in the right direction, right?
Last night I ordered More Milk Special Blend so I'm hoping that this combined with the dom and continued pumping after bf'ing plus at least one power pumping session/day will help my supply to increase lots more.

I missed this the other day, so I'm coming in late.
Things are going well, actually. (I'm pumping 3-5 times a day, mostly after nursing sessions, to give DD2 the additional milk in a bottle.) I feel like I'm getting more output (the last few sessions I've been getting 2-3 oz every 2.5 hours or so) although I still sometimes have sessions, especially after nursing DD2, where all I get is a mL or two, or just enough to splatter the inside of the bottles I pump into.
I've been eating oatmeal at least every other day, getting plenty of liquids/water, and started adding back a cup of mother's milk tea a day. I don't want to go with more than that, b/c the last time I did, I started having GI problems. I think I'm sensitive to the herbs. But my body seems okay with one cup a day.
I feel like DD2 is getting a bit chubbier and she's more satisfied at the breast more often. Sometimes, especially in the middle of the day, she's still fussy during feeds and I feel like the milk isn't coming quickly enough or in plentiful amounts, and she just doesn't want to work that hard for it and so she cries instead.
So we still have work to do. But overall, I feel like things are going in the right direction and I'm less stressed about it -- and I think that's having an impact, too.
