I've never knitted before. I picked up knitting needles and some yarn last night. I'm thinking that starting with a scarf will be easiest. Any knitters have any suggestions/tips for me?`
I am taking a beginners knitting class right now with another SAH friend of mine. It is SO much fun and I am learning so much.
I think a scarf is perfect. I started with a hat, but I have a little bit of previous experience and have already made two scarves before. The best tip I can give you is to count your stitches at the end of each row in the beginning because it is easy to drop and add stitches when you are first starting.
I mostly crochet, but when I do knit, I never stray from scarves. They are for realsies the easiest. I got "Instant Expert Knitting" to teach myself and it was glorious. Though I second Stitch n *** as being excellent as well.

Have fun!
I was supposed to have my knitting group tonight but it got canceled.
If you want a book to help you learn, I liked Stitch 'n Biitch best.
