Evan is on a kick where all he wants to do is scream - at ever increasing pitches and volume. When I tell him "no" he looks at me, babbles and then screams even louder. I know I can't expect a 7-month old to understand the concept of an indoor voice, but is there anything I can do?
The daycare teachers say that he screams a lot there too. But i have noticed that a bunch of the boys in his class do. Evan has started to scream the second he wants something he doesn't have. I hope this is a phase, but don't know how to handle it.
Any advice? Suggestions? Sympathy for my ears and headache?

Re: All he wants to do is scream.
Honestly, it's probably best to just ignore it. By saying "no", he is getting your attention, so he will scream again if he wants your attention again.
He is just testing out his voice. It will pass - in the meantime, invest in some earplugs. ;-)
ETA: Another tip is when he screams, start whispering to him. He might try to mimic you and start whispering, too!
Ditto. It's just a phase. He's discovered his voice and it's exciting. It's even more exciting when mom reacts to it.
Great idea! I will try my best to whisper to him. Sometimes I just can't stand the screaming, so this morning I walked into the closet for a minute to regain my composure. Especially with a headache I tend to have little patience for screaming.
Thanks for helping me regain my perspective!

This. It's the age. He's just learning all the new noises he can make. I just ignore it, or whisper, or sing. I try really hard not to abuse the word 'no' - the more it's used the less it means.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Oh, and Evan loves it when we sing songs to him. He hasn't realized I can't carry a tune. Thanks for the great suggestions.
