Babies on the Brain

What is the going rate

for doulas? I know it is kind of a rude question. ( I was raised not to ask questions about people and their money.) I am trying to decide if I would like to use one this time. Thank you so much for your response. The internet says it can range from $200- $1000.

  • I think it would depend where you live, what kind of services you want, etc. You might want to also post this on your local board.

  • In my area (Chicagoland), it seems to be $700-800.  You can use a doula in training for free or a minimal cost.  Doulas in training have less experience than a certified doula but have all the schooling.  The have to witness 3+ (applicable, from what my doula said) births in order to become certified.

My bradley instructor (also a doula) posted my information on a regional doula board and I had about 5 women in training contact me back.  You may want to try that.
