prenatal vitamins

I just started taking the target brand up&up prenatal vitamins. I take them at night time before I go to bed. Ive been waking up with extreme headaches that last almost all day. Does anyone else have this problem with the target prenatal vitamins? I have a Drs appt on next Wednesday for the headaches but I'm thinking about just asking the Dr to prescribe some prenatals.

Re: prenatal vitamins

  • Before I got an Rx I used those same vitamins and never had any issues.Once I got the Rx ones I compared them to Target's brand and they are the exact same thing.

  • You can also try a few different brands of OTC before jumping on the Rx bandwagon. I take the Nature Made ones that they sell at the commissary and I've had no problems with them.

  • I had an awful time with Target's PNV and several others when I was pregnant with DD.  I finally switched to Rainbow Light and it was night and day.  They are more expensive, unless you live near a Trader Joe's.  The Trader Joe's prenatal is made by Rainbow Light.

  • You may have to try a few different brands before you find one that works for you.  I tried two differnent Rx brands that both made me sick.  Another OTC brand gave me headaches.  I finally found one from a natural food store that did not have negative effects.

  • Thanks ladies! My husband and I just started TTC our first. So this is the first time Ive taken prenatals. I didnt realize you could get headaches from them. Guess I'll try another kind.
  • You may be getting headaches from the pregnancy, not specifically from the prenatals.
  • I have pregnancy headaches but they have nothing to do with the PNV I'm taking.  My doc said they will come throughout the pregnancy.  I actually like One A Day Women's PNV (which has two different pills).  I started taking them before I got pregnant then I figured I would switch to Rx to save money.  Well I hated the Rx ones I got on post.  They don't come with the DHA/EPA like my doc prescribed and I was constipated all the time (sorry TMI).  I tried them for a month and went right back to buying my One A Days (which are sold at the commissary for cheap).  It is like night and day.  I feel better and I also feel like my body is actually retaining the vitamins.  If I were you, I would try the Rx ones just to compare but don't hang your hopes on them.

  • Due to morning sickness I couldnt keep down any PNVs. So I was told I could take the Flintstone vitamins until MS went away.
