Question for those who temp(ed) - scared

So I got my BFP on Monday evening on a FRER test.  I have continued to chart my BBT since then and it has dropped the past two mornings.  It's not below the coverline or anything like that, but I'm just scared that it might mean something terrible.  I'm really scared and it's definitely stressing me out.  Sad

Are you still charting?  Why or why not?

Also, could you please look at my chart and let me know what you think.  Thanks. (link in siggy)

Re: Question for those who temp(ed) - scared

  • Call your OB if you are concerned and ask for a quantitative blood draw. If your betas double then you have nothing to worry about. My temps jumped around but I stopped temping at 10 DPO.

  • I do not temp anymore (since getting my BFP).  Temps. vary a lot in pregnancy and this is a perfect example.  As long as you have no severe cramps or bleeding, don't worry about your temp!
  • Try not to worry too much, stress doesn't help. If it will help you, call your OB and share your concerns, maybe ask for BW and maybe stop temping for a couple days. I temped EOD for a week after my BFP just to see what it did and there were some ups and downs. I don't know where or when but I've seen people on here (theBump) say that after a certain point in pregnancy, temping and POAS will just cause alarm b/c they begin to be unreliable. I'm honestly not sure how true that is but it's all just to say try not to worry too much and have faith that everything will work out. Hope you get some assurance sometime soon.

  • I stopped temping right after my BFP. I didn't want to have to worry about analyzing temps or anything else.

  • Well, I'm going to put away the thermometer for sure.  I've cried the past two mornings after temping and I know that's not good because it's just too much worrying/stressing.  I'll call the dr at 9 when they open (it's only 5 here) and see what they think.  This is going to be a new dr... I was going to call today anyway to set up my 1st appointment since the dr I set up with yesterday was not in my "network".  I hope everything is okay and I'm just over reacting.  I've been trying to look for people on here with their BFP charts linked and I do see some fluctuation so that's promising.

Thanks for the replies ladies.  Yes

  • I'm still temping at 20 dpo (I got my BFP at 10dpo).  My temps have fluctuated but they still have an upward trend.  Individual temps don't really hold much weight, it's more about the trend they project over several days.  Monday my temp was somewhere around 97.9, Tuesday is was 98.14 and yesterday it was 98.04, today it's 97.9.  I think my body just had a few hot days.  Your body could be having a few cooler days.

Call your doctor and ask for beta draws to get some peace of mind.  Good luck.

  • I had the same thing happen and went into panic mode! My doctor said "Temps don't mean anything" which only made me more worried b/c I felt like she didn't know what she was talking about!

I temped the next day and it went back up, and I stopped temping at that point. I decided the dread and stress was only going to complicate everything....that was over a week ago and so far all seems well. I feel a little more pregnant every day :)

Good luck and try not to worry. Easier said than done, I know :)

  • A couple of lower temps don't mean anything.  I've temped since my BFP (11DPO), and they've been up and down.  Tomorrow is my last day of temping (we're going out of town this weekend so it's a good stopping point).  Step away from the thermometer :)

  • Your temps are still really high, so I wouldn't worry too much.  I continued to temp for a few days, but since I'm going to the doctor today to confirm pregnancy I think I will stop temping after today.  I'm afraid it will make me crazy, lol.

  • Put the BBT down.  Once you get your BFP, you have to stop temping, b/c your temps will be all over the place.

  • Once you become pregnant the hormone distributions start to change, which affects your temp, making temping inaccurate. I temped until 14DPO (got my + on 11DPO) just to see if the temp kept going up, but stopped after that because I didn't want to see it go down and freak out.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
  • I stopped temping after my BFP, which was at 13dpo because I didn't want to wake up early anymore. Your temps still look high to me, if it concerns you I would call you doctor.
  • I posted something very similiar after I got pregnant with my first child. I was still temping and they were going down and I freaked out. You are fine. You aren't bleeding or cramping. Stop temping. Stop temping. Stop temping. The temps don't mean anything at this point.

  • I stopped at 17 dpo. It was starting to freak me out that my temps didn't go triphastic. You're still well above the coverline, and your temps vary anyways. If you're concerned call your OB, but since you're not getting any cramping and its not a huge drop, I wouldn't stress and stop temping today. =) It was hard for me to put the thermometer down, but I'm glad that I did.

  • Thank you all SO much!  I feel MUCH better just reading your responses.  I already put the thermometer in the drawer.  I know I'll feel much beter once I see the dr as well.  Thanks again, I'm glad I'm going to be surrounded by such great women over the next 8 months! Big Smile

Agreed! I'm sure there's nothing to worry about :)

  • i'm so happy you posted this! i kept temping for a week after my bfp and yes, my temps dropped also (you can see my chart in my siggy). like you, it was causing me way too much worry. i did have 2 beta tests which showed doubling. i think i kept temping because i was used to it and i thought it would give me signs the pregnancy was sticking. anyhoo, put that isht away because a) you don't need it anymore and b) it's not going to give you medical information about your pregnancy.

here's to a happy and healthy (temping free) 9 months :)
