DS doesn't want to sit in the tub - help!

For the past couple of days, DS cries when I try to sit him down in the tub. He stiffens his legs to try to prevent me from sitting him down. I ask him to please sit down, but he keeps saying "HOT!" The water is far from hot. Even though its only lukewarm, I still add some cold water, but he still throws a fit about sitting down. He acts like something is bothering him when he's sitting down. I thought maybe his bum hurt from being constipated, but he's only been doing this in the tub. Once I finally sit him down and get him into playing with his toys, he's fine. Any ideas what's going on?

  • DS wants his baths pretty cold now.  I don't know why.  We usually just do a shower though.  Have you tried that?

  • Try a shower! My DD would fight baths like crazy so I decided after seeing how much she loved her shower at swim lesson to try showers. I close the curtain half way and let her stand in the shower. I have her walk over to me and I wash her down and then she plays in the water :) She loves it and it actually uses less water and is a quicker bath. Now I let her choose each day which one she wants. She usually takes a shower once a week but she never fights bath time anymore now that she has a choice :)

  • DD does the same thing.  If I can actually get her to take a bath the water is pretty much cold, kinda like pool water.  We now do showers and the water is the same temp also pool water cool.  Once I get her wet I will turn the warm water up alittle and she doesnt seem to notice.

  • DS does a lot of showers now. On the flip side with the water temp, do you think it may actually be too cold and he's saying "it's hot" but meaning he wants it warmer?
