Lately R has been fighting his second nap even when his first nap is not so great. He doesn't cry, he'll just lay there and kick around maybe fuss a little. I'm just not sure how long to give him to fall asleep. How long do you give them before you let them win? I always feel like if I wait 5 more minutes he might fall asleep- but after over an hour I'm feeling really guilty...

Re: How long do you give your LO(s) to nap?
Well I know my girl and if it takes more than 40 minutes, she is just not going for it. Strange for him to be resisting so much, does he seem tired? Maybe it is too early? Or can you change up the routine? One thing I was doing that was bad was I was giving her a bottle up in her room and then reading her stories and then putting her down in the crib and finishing the bottle. the nanny said she reads downstairs and just gives her the bottle upstairs and leaves. I found once I stared doing that she started going to sleep much quicker (unless she poops).
I guess it was "How long can i keep mommy here? " or "playtime again!" or something. Before it was taking much longer.

I was thinking (and hoping) that it's too early to drop a nap too. His schedule now is- wake up about 6am, have a bottle & back down until about 8am. Bottle, play, breakfast, another bottle (usually only half) then down for nap #1 by 11am. Up by 1pm, play, lunch, bottle down again by 3:30. Up by 5pm, play, dinner, bottle, bath & bed by 7pm. Of course it all changes if he doesn't go back down in the am or we are out running errands or whatever. He still has no teeth- been noming and drooling like crazy for months. Our answer is always "must be teething", I now hate the word teething.
At that age, an hour was usually our cut off. I hope he starts napping better soon!
Someone else mentioned teething... That definitely threw a huge wrench in Maddie's naps.
You may not like this option but it seems like he may need to get up earlier to get two naps in
Or you could try for the first nap earlier (10?) and make sure it is not longer than one hour, that would push the second one up a bit, maybe make it easier.
'Elena could never fall asleep after a certain time even if she was tired.
