Pampers Swaddlers...jelly like crystals all over LO

I use pampers swaddlers for my DS and I would say that about 50% of the time, the crystals that must absorb the moisture, end up all over him as they are leaking out of the top front of the diaper. He isnt getting a rash or anything but am considering trying out huggies. Does anyone else have this problem or do huggies have the same crystals???

I have seen these as well but it was only after we got up in the morning and Caelyn had a very very wet diaper after sleeping for 7hours. I think they are from being overly saturated. If your LO pees a lot then I think they are normal to form but I don't know if other brands have the same issue. I've only ever used Pampers with both of my kids.

this happened with my son too for the first week that we used the swaddlers. since then i have not noticed the jelly crystal like things. we tried huggies, but he would leak through them.

I had the exact same problem! We switched to pampers sensitive while he is in newborn sizes because he was reacting to the wipes we were using. So, we decided to switch the diapers as well. We also tried huggies during that time. Neither the huggies or pampers sensitive had this problem only the swaddlers. What garbage!!

That happens to my toddler sometimes overnight. It is from the diaper being over saturated.

It happened with my son as well when I used the swaddlers new baby from the hospital and the dry max swaddlers. I switched to the pampers with baby dry and haven't had the same problem at all. Like PP have said, DS also leaked like crazy out of huggies.

It's funny because our last diaper change had this for the first time. And, she was not even that wet, she had huggies on.

I switched to the target brand after this problem and she is amazing no problems with them at all

We ALWAYS had this problem when we used Huggies. So far, even after DD's slept all night and it's soaked, our Pampers have never done this.

I've seen this with pampers, huggies, and costco. I don't really think it's a big deal, it just is part of the diapers. It's happened with really full diapers as well as barely wet diapers, so I don't really think it matters, just happens sometimes.

Sounds like your LOs diaper is VERY wet and should be changed more often.

Huggies has the same crystals. They arent harmful to LO.....My LO had crystals on him before too but as I change him often they arent there as much. I dont like huggies but thats me....LO used to use them and he was always wet on his side from pee coming up and had poop come out the side.

And I change him all the time I use the diapers with the wet indicator on them. And LO usually poops after eating and lets it be know to change him!

I've used Pampers since DS was born and I've seen the crystals. I first saw them like you said, from the top after he'd soak through them. The size I was using on him overnight was too small for night, so I went up a size and used Huggies Overnights for bedtime.

I've also seen the "beads" as I called them when my dog stole a diaper out of the trash and it rained on it. They are definitely from over-saturation. If your LO pees A TON in one diaper (which my son did), it might have to do with the physical max amount able to be absorbed. Have you tried going up a size?

DS weighs less than 7lbs so even pampers nb seem a little big on him so i dont think i need to go up a size. His diapers are changed every 3 hrs right before feedings, after naps. Pedi said to push his penis down when changing diapers but he is still healing from his circumcision so i dont push it down yet which i think might be the problem. I guess I will stick with pampers for a bit longer. Thx all!

I've seen this happen when Ds's diapers are oversaturated AND I've had it happen with an entire bag of diapers that were definitely NOT oversaturated. Sometimes you get a bad batch. DS does react to them, so count yourself lucky! The only way to avoid it altogether is to use cloth
