Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

future SIL 6 months pregnant and SMOKING !

Soon to be sister in law is already high risk something about having an enlarged Uterus  and her body thinking its ready to go into labor 4 months early she is on all medication for this to not go into labor early and is going to have to go on bed rest soon and she is/ has been the whole time SMOKING.

In this modern day and age who the FVCK still smokes while pregnant rednecks aside I know she knows better and she is high risk already she had 2 kids in high school who came early. Why would she be so dumb it infuriates me. UGH poor little baby boy.

  • My biggest pet peeve is someone who smokes while pregnant and/or around children (especially in a vehicle). I don't think I would be able to keep my mouth shut if it was my future SIL. I hope everything turns out all right for your nephew.

  • The wife of one of DH's co-workers was high risk also and smoked her entire pregnancy.  At first she was like I can smoke until 13 weeks and it won't hurt the baby, and then it was well I cut down to 1/2 a pack a day, if I quit it will do more harm to the baby than if I keep smoking!

I don't understand it either, DH and I both smoked (I know disgusting habit), and I haven't smoked since the day I got my BFP, DH quit a few months later, but never smoked around me or in the car.  Now we can smell smoke from miles away and it makes us want to gag!  I can't believe we smelled like that!

  • That's klassy... And here I am feeling guilty for eating 2 bites of a donut because I have GD... I really hope that baby stays cooking longer! Poor thing.

Amen!  It is one thing to smoke and ruin your own health but it should be a crime to force it on innocent babies and children that don't have any choice.  In my state it is against the law to smoke in the car with a child under the age of 6.  I wish there was a law for people that smoke while they are pregnant.

  • That is so sad.  I really hope everything turns out okay.
  • Errrg! That drives me up a wall! I think that smoking while pg is bad enough, but already being at risk for pre-term labor just makes it that much worse.
  • Ugh, that is so frustrating. My Aunt also smoked during her pregnancy. While she did cut down (she was and is again a 1 pack a day smoker) she didn't quit completly. She was also a high risk pg. It was so hard for me not to be judgmental and keep my mouth shut. Luckily her son was born healthy and at 2 still has not had any health concerns. I hope your nephew is too.

  • Nothing makes me more mad than seeing a pregnant woman smoke.  Talk about playing fast and loose with her baby's health.  I've lost two babies by stillbirth and there is nothing more horrible in this world.  That is downright child abuse to smoke during pregnancy.

The Lord certainly works in mysterious ways to allow people the free will to smoke during pregnancy, and their babies live, and mine die, just because my body can't handle pregnancy.

  • I don't understand smoking while pregnant at all.  I was a pack a day smoker for 10 years and tried to quit many times, until I got my BFP.  I quit cold turkey for the sake of my child.  It wasn't easy but being a good parent isn't easy.
  • I have a friend who was high risk and did not quit. She lucked out and had a healthy baby (who was born under scary circumstances though). Now she is pg again and I am so afraid she is going to do it again. I haven't asked her about it yet because I am afraid I will go off on her if she is indeed smoking. It is incredibly STUPID and selfish.

  • That's so irritating! I was at a bar once and there was a pregnant woman there (I'd say around 7 months pregnant), taking numerous shots AND smoking. How's that do ya?! I wanted to smack her in her face!

  • Dont Flame I smoked when i was prego i didnt know till i was 3 months along and I DID quit  fairly right away... i went down to 3 ciggerettes to none just because i was told that if you cut it off right away it would cause alot of stress and could have caused a miscarriage SO as soon as i found out when down to 3  a day then within a month quit fully I was terrified i  would hurt the baby ...Thank god she was perfectly healthy... I think anyone who is trying to get pregnant should make sure there body is clean and healthy before concieving I know next time Around Id never do the same thing again!
  • That disgusts me. Does she even want this baby??

  • My cousin's wife smoked through her first two pregnancies with her sons.  The third pregnancy she found out she was having a girl, she quit smoking.  I was happy that she quit smoking the third pregnancy, but it's sad she couldn't do the same with her sons.
  • That's awful and completely self-centered.  I'm glad to see she has her priorities straight. Confused
  • It's 9 months. I know quitting cold turkey sucks and isn't easy, but it won't kill you. I don't know why people can't be responsible and put another's needs before their own.
