Pregnant after a Loss

Officially on bed rest :(

I had my 37 week appointment this morning.  And the doctor put me on official bed rest.  I am not allowed to do anything but get food, go to the bathroom and attend doctor's appointments.

Thankfully she is letting me continue to work from home (on a lap top from bed) so I don't have to start my leave.  But this will be re-evaulated next week.  Ugh!  On top of that, I have to have bloodwork drawn every week and do a 24 hour urine catch each week to make sure my hypertension has not turned into pre-eclampsia.

I allowed myself 10 minutes of pity and I am back to being thankful that baby girl is doing so well.  The ultrasound tech from the BPP yesterday thinks she is around 6.5 lbs, she was practicing her breathing and trying to suck her thumb!  They will induce at 39 weeks due to hypertension unless it turns to pre-eclampsia.  If it does turn, they will induce immediately after Friday.

  • Sorry to hear it but glad baby is doing well.
  • Try to rest - but it's good to hear the baby is doing well!
  • Blech! I hope your hypertension does NOT turn into pre-e!!

If I may offer a word of background/advice ('cause it was rotten for me!!)  I had mild pre-e starting around 28 weeks...was on bedrest for 8 weeks, did NOT wash my hair before my 36 week appt (was running behind, figured I'd do it after my appt.)...my BP had shot up so high that they "threw" me in the hospital and I didn't get to wash my hair for 4 days.

Advice: plan to be admitted next week just in case.  And, for God's sake...make sure you wash your hair before your appointment, LOL.  That was the worst for me not able to wash my hair while in the hospital for 4 days.

I hope this is advice that doesn't turn in to anything you need, but just wanted to throw it out there, just in case. Big Smile

  • I'm so sorry honey!  I'm gad they are monitoring you closely though.  I hope that bed rest turns out to be a nice time to rest and relax.  Although, I know it is really hard.

I'm glad you get to keep working from home though!  That's what I am doing and it is sooooo nice to know I'm not using up my leave already.

  • Oh no, I am sorry :( Bedrest is not fun but it is worth it in th end. I am an advocate for it now since it helped me keep my LO in for another 4 weeks. Hang in there and I am pray your BP will stay down until 39 weeks!
