Babies: 6 - 9 Months

No teeth at 8 months??

DS still doesn't have any teeth and he turned 8 months on Monday. And I don't think they are coming in anytime soon. I'm not complaining since I still breastfeed, but at what point should I be concerned? I plan on bringing this up at his 9 month check up, but it's still a month away. Anyone else's 8 month old or older still not have teeth?

  • No teeth here either (though we're only 6 months old!).  Our Pedi told us that teeth can come anywhere from 2-18 months and not to worry if it takes a long time.

  • Why are you concerned?  You have a long while to go before I would think you would be alarmed by this.  Plus, added bonus, no teeth yet means no biting!
  • She is 8 months today and still no teeth here either!

My question was at what point should I be concerned. Sounds like it's around 12-18 months.

And yes! Big bonus for no biting!! Big Smile

  • No teeth here either. DD is about 8.5 months. She only has bouts of drooliness, nothing out of control.

  • Lily got her first tooth a few days before her 8 month birthday. I was worried, too, lol. Are LO's gums hard? Her gums (bottom) were hard for about a month before one finally broke through. She only has one tooth, its buddy hasn't shown up yet, lol
This is a test. This is only a test.
  • yup...12-18 mos is what I've heard.. No worries! =)

My 5 month old just had 2 teeth bust through at the same time. I was shocked, he drooled alot, but never cried or fussed, I found out when he bit the living hell out of me.

My grandpa was born with a tooth.. LOL

  • No reason to get concerned.  Getting teeth is not a milestone...it can happen whenever. When my son was a toddler, there was a little girl in our mommy and me class who didn't get her first tooth until she was 15 months old!

My DS didn't get his first tooth until he was 10 months old.  Once they started coming in though, they broke through in clusters.  At one point he cut 6 teeth in a two week time frame.  It was HELL!

  • My coworker has a 9.5 month old daughter who shows no sign of teeth yet.
