Seriously, it is ridiculous that no matter what I eat or how much, I will be hungry in 2 hours, if I'm lucky it's 3! And of course I am craving salty, fatty food. Cheese is my best friend right now! Anyone else ravenous?? I've gained 9 pounds so far, which is appropriate, but I'm afraid if I keep eating like this it will have doubled by my next appt. I do my best to throw some healthy vegies and fruit in there, but working straight nights makes it even harder to eat healthy. Still dealing with some nausea too; maybe it will get better when that finally lifts.
Re: At this rate I'm gonna gain a 100lbs!!
I wish I had a healthy appetite. I'm not really in the mood to eat anything until supper time (I do snack during the day whether I want to or not) and even then I'm very picky about what sounds good. Some things still make me gaggy, even though I've never thrown up yet.
I actually lost 5 lbs since the beginning of my pregnancy at my 15 week appt. and I think I've even lost another pound or 2 since then! Hopefully I'll gain a couple pounds back soon. Never thought I'd ever say that...haha
After the nausea went away I got REALLY hungry. But I wasn't very hungry my first tri. I just try and eat fruit first. Because really, how many apples can you eat? But you can eat a million cookies or whatever that is carby. I also try not to make any of my meals *huge* because no matter how much I eat, I'm hungry again in 2 hours. So I just try and eat tons of small meals and make sure that I eat lots of fruit to keep my cravings down for bad things. Right now my favorite mini meals:
apple + cheese
apple + peanut butter
toast + peanut butter
freezer waffle + fried egg
applesauce + cheese stick
raspberries + steel cut oats
banana smoothie (milk, banana, ice, vanilla)
boiled egg
peaches & cottage cheese
pasta & tomato sauce
grilled cheese sandwich
carrots & ranch
Caesar salad
FWIW I'm at 19 weeks and have gained 6lbs. I am overweight though, so I'm on track for me.
I've wondered the same thing! I thought pregnancy was supposed to slow your digestive system and mine seems to be the complete opposite. Glad I'm not the only one. I just ate pizza at 3:30am! Granted that's probably cause of my work schedule, working nights messes everything up anyway.
My doctor wasn't happy with me yesterday when she saw I had gained 12 pounds total - 7 in the last month.
