Not sure when to temp

Now I remember why I quit temping.  Dh gets up anywhere between 4 am and 6 am.  My alarm goes off at 6:30.  Dh wakes me before he leaves, then I fall back asleep until my alarm goes off, which may or may not give me a solid block of sleep.  What time am I suppose to temp?

Re: Not sure when to temp

  • Can you set your alarm for 4am and take it, then go back to sleep? If you can, that's what I would do.

  • Or, if DH leaves at the same time every day, you can temp then & go back to sleep.  The way I decided was to just use the earliest time I'd be getting up & consistently temp then.

  • As far as I know, the simple act of being woken up and going right back to sleep shouldn't muck up your temps. I think the only issue is when you wake up, walk around, let the dog out, grab a drink of water THEN go back to sleep.

I personally would just temp at 6:30.

  • I would temp earlier, and then go back to sleep.

    Good luck!

  • P.S.  FWIW, I've noticed that if I stay in bed, relaxed (even if I'm awake) my temps really don't change much, if at all, as long as I temp at the same time.  Even if I'm laying there for an hour or more!  GL!!!

  • Unless I get up or toss and turn for a good amount of time, I usually just temp when my alarm goes off. I haven't had any issue seeing a temp shift while doing it this way.

I'm a "lazy" temper....meaning I'll temp when my alarm tells me it's time to get up. I'm also not going to get up early on the weekends to temp (oh hellz no). Even with this lazy approach, I can still see the thermal shift.

  • Thanks.  I'll try temping at 6:30 when my alarm goes off and see how it goes.

Give this a shot and ask DH not to wake you when he leaves unless he needs to (or does so accidentally).

Some people are very sensitive to any movement or even calm moments of wakefulness, others don't have as sensitive a temp.

If you find your temps are all wonky then go to a 4 am temp time and just go back to sleep. I'm one with a very sensitive body temp so had to temp at 5:30 when DH get's up and then roll back over for another hour or so.
