TTC After a Loss

Ugh! I know I'm not pregnant - Stop telling me!

So I went for my upper endoscopy today, which went very well. I get the biopsy results in a week.

Anyway, they have to do a pregnancy test, of course, like they would do with any type of procedure. I knew it would be negative. I told them I have my period now, and I know I'm not pregnant, and that I had a mc in September. "Ohh, ok. But we still have to test" was the response I got. Ok, I know that. So they're going over my meds, one of which is my prenatal. The nurse going over my meds goes on to ask why I'm taking that. **DUH!**..I said because we were trying to get pregnant, but I had a mc in September. The other nurse, who was starting my IV, asked me "Do you definitely know you're not pregnant?" I said "Yes, I do know. I have my period. And we have to wait before we get pg." She asks again, "Are you sure?" OMG - Yes!! You guys just tested me too! MY GOD..A few minutes later, they get my pregnancy test results. The first nurse gets the results, and goes "Ok, your pregnancy test is negative." I said "I know." NO, REALLY!? Big shocker there. Finally, as they're finishing my questions, she recaps, "Your meds are, your allergies are, etc, etc, and your pregnancy test is negative." Holy crap lady!

It's so frustrating. I know they have to make sure, and follow protocol, but do they have to keep asking and confirming I'm not pregnant? Have a little compassion. :(

Thanks for listening, ladies..

  • I probably would have flipped out on her.  How many times do you need to be asked?  Really?

  • That's what I thought..It's almost like they get a sick enjoyment out of constantly asking..But I know that's probably not the case, and they were just doing their job confirming and such..but still, once should be enough..I know I'm not pg..If you have to confirm, and re-confirm it again, do it to yourself, and not out loud...It was like twisting the knife..:(

I turned to my MIL (who brought me), and I said, "Honestly, how many times do they need to ask me." I'm glad it wasn't me going insane, because she noticed it too...She herself has experienced a miscarriage, and a stillborn due to T18, so she totally understands..She replied, "I know, it hurts and stings..I'm sorry Jo."..I love my MIL..

  • Ick.  (((Hugs)))

Sounds like my trip to the ER last week.  Miscarriage - D&C - Excessive Bleeding.  Simple.  BUT..... every single person I came in contact with.....

    "Are you preeeegggggnnnannnnnt?!?!"

"Is there a baby in there (touching my stomach)"

"Is this your first u/s for this pregnancy?"

    "How far along are you?"

Even if I was still pregnant... the fact that I'm at the ER with excessive vaginal bleeding probably means this isn't going to turn out to be a happy day.

Aren't medical professionals supposed to be compassionate?  WTH?

I just told myself they were doing their job..I was starting to boil though, and was happy when they left after the IV and question-asking..

Thanks, slgbreenen! I was so happy to get AF on Saturday..It seems that my body is getting back to normal, which is a first for me..I was never, ever regular, which is why I went on bc in the first place 8 years ago..:)
