Hello again, so here's my issue, briefly, I will be 19 weeks pregnant this week, with twin boys and I have not been much of a drinker EVEN when im NOT pregnant (meaning I don't drink water or any type of liquids as much as I should in general) With that in mind, I eat 3 times a day and I have 1 or 2 snacks throughout the day but I hardly think I make it past 1700 calories a day which my OB says Id need at least 2000 calories a day for my boys and I just dont know how to eat that much food in one day! I def dont eat just to eat or eat when I'm hungry and in my house my husband and I eat fairly healthy throughout the weeks. Proteins, veggies, dairies, ect are all included in my everyday diet with the ocassional fast foods when Im craving it which is rarely! Anyhow, I just get concerned at times that my babies are not getting enough fluids or calories they need throughout the day although thankfully when I go for my 2 weeks check-ups they are fine. I also have to force myself to drink as much water as I can throughout the day. Don't get me wrong I love to eat but only when I feel hungry. How can I learn to eat more and drink more without forcing myself to do so when I dont feel hungry? Or is the way Im eating normal?

Re: Need advice on calorie intake!
Don't force yourself to eat!
On days when I had trouble getting food in (those days were few and far between during my pregnancy, but they did exist!) I made sure to drink Ensure. It has the extra protein that I had a hard time getting in. I had an aversion to most meat for awhile.
I don't have much advice for you, but am looking forward to hearing others thoughts on this too because I was told to eat more at my appointment today - although I feel like I am eating constantly already!! My plan is to keep small healthy snacks around me...crackers with cheese, apples, carrots, nuts. Then just have a little something every hour or so.
ETA: As for fluids, maybe add a flavor to your water. Sometimes a little lemon is enough to help me get down an extra glass or two a day.
I am trying to follow Dr. Luke's book. It is a ton to eat but it seems that it is so important to eat the right things and gain weight for your babies. I am sure there are a lot of opinions out there but I am sticking with hers.
I feel your pain - I have GD and my nutritionist said I should be eating about 3000 calories a day for my height/appropriate weight gain.
Let's just say I eat a lot of cheese and most days, I don't make it to any where near 3000. I just do the best I can to eat wisely and always snack.
