I'm going into L&D again for more bleeding, but its gone on forever and it never stops. They didn't find anything at my last check last week in L&D. Its very frustrating to have no answers, but relieving to know the baby is fine in there.
Just curious if you had bleeding, was it every explained? Did they do additional testing? How much and how often was it?
I'm feeling like a moron because mine comes and goes and I hate going to L&D all the time for what seems to me like a waste. Even though I know its better to be safe than sorry!
Thanks!
Re: did any of you have bleed your entire pregnancy?
Bleeding at any point is scary. I'm sorry you are dealing with it. Have they taken a really close look at your cervix? Like through transvaginal ultrasound? And have they looked at where your placenta is? Looked for blood clots?
I would ask for a referral to a Perinatologist (high risk doctor) to have them do a major ultrasound to really examine and analyze your uterus for the cause of the bleed. The equipment is better and the techs and doctors are more knowledgeable about where to look for abnormal things. Better safe than sorry!
Awww, you poor thing. Big hugs to you! I bet your nerves are just shot.
To answer your question, other than one incident where I spotted just a little bit around 32 weeks, I've not had any bleeding. When I spotted, the OB ordered an U/S to check my cervix and placenta, both of which came back fine. In the end, I wasn't given any explanation for what caused the bleeding (I think they still don't know) - but OB did say that the LO was just fine.
Don't feel like a moron going into L&D - if you're bleeding, you're bleeding. It's better to be safe and make that extra trip then sorry and deal with the "what ifs".
Good luck!
I had bleeding on and off from 20 weeks until the end. From weeks 20-28 it was due to a placenta previa (low placents that may or may not cover the cervix...the more of the cervix it covers, the bigger problem it can be). A marginal previa generally resolves on its own, a complete previa usually doesnt and necessitates a scheduled c-section (because there is no way for the baby to come out). When I had bleeding after week 28 it was due to a placental abruption, but they don't happen as often as a previa (previa is extremely common).
I would definitely have your doc refer you to a high risk doc to get a better look...if it is a previa, they will recheck you via ultrasound in a few weeks and determine if a c-section should be scheduled. If its an abruption, it sometimes causes you to go into labor early, but they usually can't tell ahead of time if it will cause an issue.
Don't stress until you get an answer from your doc and take it easy for now! GL!
