Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Lets travel back in time to 1st Tri days

I was just lurking over on 1st tri out of bordem and read a post about nail polish being toxic or something along those lines. Did anyone actually follow the "don't do while you're pregnant" things? Like don't eat hot dogs, warm your lunch meat up first before eating, toxic nail polish, don't put your pants on starting with your left leg. Ok, I made the last one up but you catch my drift. I admit at first I wouldn't eat any lunch meat that wasn't warmed up but I HATE warm lunch meat and stopped doing that pretty quick. I just couldn't see fearing lunch meat my entire 9 months. And hot dogs became one of my pregnancy cravings.

  • The only thing I avoided was alcohol. And I had a few sips of beer or wine here and there. I had GD, so if I didn't eat lunch meat I'd have starved to death.

  • I gave up smoking and alcohol (had a few sips here and there) Other than that it was game on!
  • I warmed up my lunchmeat and never had full alcoholic drinks but halfway through second trimester and throughout, I definitely stole sips of wine or beer from my husband on occasion.

  • I got nervous going into nail salons in 3rd tri. I opted to wear a mask... Embarrassed

haha It was stinky and I wasnt sure what it'd do. Other than that, I avoided alcohol and the meds they tell you to stay away from. But I totally had caffeine and ate sushi (it was a nice place and i knew it was fresh).   Annabelle seems to of turned out ok! :]

  • I didn't drink alcohol and stopped using Retin-A on my face. That's about it!

I think I painted my nails every week b/c that was one thing that made me feel good about myself!

  • I didn't really follow any of the rules except drinking, but I don't drink anyway.

I ate hotdogs, cold lunchmeat, drank caffeine (in moderation) and had aspartame.

I'm sure there's more stuff, but I can't think of anything else right now! I also highlighted my hair and whitened my teeth, but I believe I waited until 2nd tri to do that. ;)

  • I didn't drink alcohol and switched to tea for my 32oz of caffeinated beverage that I was used to drinking at work every day. Other than that - I just ate a ton and gained 40 lbs. damn, that was a bad idea.

  • I avoided lunch meat, alcohol, and salacylic acid on the advice of my doctor, but ate hot dogs and after first tri I couldn't handle the no caffeine any more, so I started drinking my regular morning tea again.  Ahhhh!
  • I avoided alcohol, lunch meat, wearing nail polish, and caffeine. I also used specific "pregnancy safe" face wash...am I that girl? Embarrassed
  • My first pregnancy I was pretty by the book ~ no lunch meat, no diet soda, no alcohol, etc...

This time around I definitely loosened up, but kept everything in moderation ~ except alcohol. I didn't drink.

  • I was one of those paranoid people who didn't eat soft cheeses, cold deli meats, hot dogs or sushi.  I had a quarter of a pint of beer on St. Patty's Day, but I was in 3rd tri by that time.  I went to a nail salon and got a mani/pedi in 1st tri.  And I had one daily 8 oz. cup of coffee starting from 2nd tri onwards (because the smell of coffee made me ill during 1st tri).

  • I gave up a lot, but it took us almost 4 years and lots of $$$ with 2 losses along the way to even get pregnant, so I was more then willing to be overly cautious.

I gave up alcohol, artificial sweeteners, caffeine (even decaf and hot chocolate) anything with mayo, lunchmeat, hotdogs, fish in general, any sort of smoothie or milkshake that I didn't make at hom and avoided my face products that contained acids to name the big ones.

I pretty much lived off of carbs.  McDonalds french fries and Blue Bell ice cream made a very cute baby :)

    I was like that too!

  • I tried to cut back on the caffeine but still ended up drinking way more than I should've. I still had lunch meat, but warmed it up whenever I remembered to. And towards the end of my pregnancy, I accidentally started slacking on taking my PNVs.

Completely understood! I would have wanted to live in a bubble. My BFF is going through that now and she is so nervous everyday.

  • I followed all the "Rules" during pregnancy. Well I did gain more weight than I should have probably due to eating more sugar than I should have. So, maybe not all the rules!

  • I gave up drinking completely until 2nd tri.  After that it was a couple of small glasses of red wine during the holidays or special occasions; no hard liquor at all.  The smell of beer made me sick.

I gave up any type of carbonated and/or diet drinks, just because I didn't like the taste of them any more.  Even now, I might have a Sprite or Pepsi once a month.

As for food, the only thing I gave up completely was sashimi.

  • I didn't have ANY lunch meat the whole time I was pregnant. DH wouldn't let me.

  • I think I pretty much ignored all that.  I had a tuna melt at least once a month, painted my nails if I was bored (not often because I hate dealing with removing it), ate cheese, even had a few sips of wine for New Years & slept on my back or right side (for me, the left was uncomfortable) all 9mo!

As far as my DH was concerned, I didn't have any lunch meat either. He was like a hawk watching what I was eating. But during third tri I started sneaking lunch meat. I couldn't take it anymore. I was dreaming about cold ham.

This and I stopped taking my PNVs- I tried multiple types and they all made me throw up- OB felt that me gaining weght was more important than the vitamins so I'd take flinstones here and there.
