I go to a BFing support group weekly - I do EP. Hudson has not gained an ounce in 2 weeks now. He was 16lbs at his 4m check on the 28th of Sept and last night weighed in at 15lbs 15oz. I am worried that the fat content in my milk has went down as I have noticed the layer of fat isn't as much as it used to be. We also started cereal 2 weeks ago but his milk intake has not decreased. Any ideas on wtd?

Re: Help - Weight gain for DS
You may want to talk with your pediatrician about fortifying your breastmilk with formula. I don't know how you feel about formula. My DD was not gaining weight. She is actually not even on the chart. She was eating 24-28 ounces pumped breastmilk per day and still not gaining. I turned to fortified breast milk to increase the calories per serving and she began to gain. This is common practice with premature babies. i read that some women don't have as much fat in their breastmilk as others. It has to do with your BMI and your own fat stores.
This is a great chart to help you figure out how much to add. We do 1/2 tbsp to 4 ounces every 4 hours at 3 months old.

We did this too and it worked great. When I suggest it most people on here act like I'm killing my child, lol.
Is his BM intake the same everyday? If so, that may be the problem - he may be hitting a growth spurt and need more milk than normal.
I'd also stop the cereal - that could be filling him up on empty calories meaning he isn't taking in as much milk as he should.

Is he getting fresh milk or previously frozen? Do you have oversupply? Is the lack of weight gain over the last 2 weeks the only symptom that has you concerned?
I had a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance that was caused by oversupply. That could cause your milk to look less creamy/fatty. I only weigh my DS monthly though so the weight gain wouldn't have caught my attention.
