AngelCare Deluxe monitor saved my baby

I am not the type to push people to buy one product over another but I learned firsthand that having the AngelCare Deluxe Movement Sensor baby monitor is life saving. The short story is that this past Tuesday as I was pumping in my  very healthy 9 week old daughter's nursery I heard the monitor alarm go off where she was sleeping in her cosleeper in my bedroom. When I scooped her up and was able to see her in the light she was unresponsive, pale/gray and limp. I did all that I could to get her to "come to" which took several minutes and alot of effort but she did and was totally fine afterwards. We went to the local childrens hospital and she was there for 3 days to be tested for different things to see why she became unresponsive. The doctor's were unable to find a cause which is frightening and frustrating but without the monitor and getting to her in time I am not so sure I would have been able to revive her.  It truely saved her life and was worth every penny spent on it. I highly suggest this monitor. I am posting this on several boards to get the word out.

  • Wow!  How scary!  A close friend of mine also has the AngelCare monitor - their alarm also went off and they found their baby in a similar condition.  I'm totally going to register for one!

  • That is so scary.  I'm glad your LO is okay.  I have been planning to register for one of those ever since I saw it mentioned on Young House Love and followed up with my own reading on it.

  • I used one with DS and loved it, I plan on getting the newer model, but am worried that we won't be able to use it in the pack n play with bassinet we registered for.  LO will sleep in the bassinet part of the pack n play next to our bed for the first few months.  We may have to get really creative to figure out how to use the pad.  anyone else been able to use the Angel Care with a pack n play bassinet?

    thanks!

We have a graco pack and play and the bassinet sits in a mesh liner, you could put it between the liner and the pad for the bassinet. I may buy one now after reading this.

  • omg!  I'm so glad you were able to save her!  I didn't hear about this monitor until after I had DD.  I think I'm going to add it to the list of things to get for this baby.

I have to ask, did you take a class on infant cpr?  DH and I talked about this all the time w/ DD, what would happen if, god forbid, something happened?  It wasn't covered in our childbirth class.  After reading this I feel like a terrible mother.  Even if I had found my DD in a similar situation, I don't think I would have been able to save her.  You seriously are a super mom.  I hope your DD is doing well and you don't have any more scares like this!  Thank you for the heads up on the product!

  • I'm a nursing assitant in a major hospital and we are required to be Infant and Adult CPR and First Aid Certified so yes I knew what I was doing which is probably why I stayed as calm as I did. I do urge parents and babysitters to become certified but the steps are always online too for a refresher in between or to go over until you are able to take an actual class. Just google infant cpr steps. There are sites that will show you the steps in picture form so it's easy to understand.

    My DD is doing great.!

We used it in the PNP bassinet.  You just need to put a thin board between the mesh and the pad.

  • wow... thank you for your story

I registered for one but I thought I was just being silly.  Even my dh questioned if it was necessary.  I am so glad I did now!!

  • How scary, I admire how calm & collected you were! I put this on my registry but I contemplated taking it off after reading about it Baby Bargains but I'll be keeping in on after reading this. Thanks for sharing your story!

According to amazon, there is one by BebeSounds? and Graco... so that's really what I was asking...

The one by BebeSounds is the bestselling and has 5 stars...
