Do you just use regular scissors? And cut as straight as you can? I just get a mental picture of myself using kitchen scissors and hacking off half of her bangs.

i have hair cutting scissors, and i use a comb to make sure its straight or whatever i'm going for. It's much easier to do when he is sleeping, otherwise he wants to see what i'm doing and hold the scissors or comb.
I would use headbands or hair clips to keep it out of her eyes. At home haircuts are never a good idea IMO. My DD is so mobile, I can't imagine getting her to hold still good enough for a decent haircut.
We are waiting until DS is 10 months to cut it, even though it has been in his face for at least 3 months. We comb it over to the side and just brush it out of his face, no other options for boys.
As soon as my little guy's hair started getting in his eyes, I just took the scissors and trimmed it. Really, you can't mess up their hair if you just trim it along its natural lines (can't think of how to say that exactly).
I always see little kids with hair in their eyes and I just think that it must be so annoying for them, they can't even coordinate their hands enough to brush it out of their faces. I
I am a hair dresser and IMO I hate the straight bangs. If you are going to do it, take a little at a time off so you don't take too much off and I diagonal my scissors so its no so straight. Just a little diagonal and it might look funny when your cutting it but when your done no straight edge! Reg scissors are just fine. I have done it before. It is easier with haircutting scissors tho.
