When I had DD, I went to a practice in West Bloomfield, and delivered out of Huron Valley. I LOVED it there, but now my practice switched to Henry Ford West Bloomfield. I just found out I'm pregnant again after a recent miscarriage, and I'm not sure if I should switch OB's. The main reason would be that we recently moved, and I am about 10 or 15 minutes away from Troy Beaumont. I would have to find a new OB, and I'm not looking forward to that. I like most of the OB's at my current practice, especially the one I dealt with when I was going through the miscarriage. I should add that the time, we were living near the Brighton/AA area, and I still decided to deliver at Huron Valley. So even though HFWB is a little farther then Beaumont, its still closer than the last drive I had from Brighton to Commerce. So, to cut this rambling short, would you switch OB's and hospitals just because its a shorter drive?
Re: Would you switch OB's?
How far away from HFWB are you?
If it is not to much further than I would stay. I hear that hospital is amazing. But really is it going to be a pain to get to your dr appts all the time or not to much?
If you feel comfortable with them I would stay.
ETA: CONGRATS on the pg! Tons of sticky dust your way
HFWB would be half an hour away, I believe. Driving to the appointments from my job isn't that far. So we'll see I guess. I'll have to talk it over with DH some more. My friend delivered both kids out of Troy Beaumont and loved it.
Thanks for the congrats and sticky dust. Definitely need it
Congrats!
Is your job closer to HFWB or Troy Beaumont? I try to schedule my appts before or right after work, so I like to be close to home either way.
I had a similar situation.... I lived in Troy for a bit and had a doctor that i had been going to since I was 16. When i moved to West Bloomfield i put off finding a new Ob/Gyn until i found out i was pregnant. I was convinced that i wanted a doctor to who worked out of HFWB because it is the closest to me, but as i researched doctors i ended up seeing one who's group works out of Huron Valley. I was a little worried about the extra distance to the hospital, but I really like my doctor. The more i thought about it, the more I've settled on the fact that labor will probably be long and the extra time in the car wont be as important as having a great doctor who i am comfortable with when i arrive to deliver my baby. I think that if you like your current OB and the hospital, stick with them!
Good Luck!
Do you go to Women's Health?? I go there....just wondering since I had my first at Huron Valley and then my 2nd at Henry Ford. I am not going to lie: Huron Valley was beyond amazing. I did not have nearly as good of an experience at Henry Ford.....but....I delivered there right when they made the switch, so they had to work out some kinks.
I would never switch OB's because of a hospital. For me, the OB is way more important than the hospital. Also, I'm not a Beaumont fan at all, so no matter what I was staying with my practice (and always will!)
