So th agency received our application and entry fee and now they emailed me the Home Study "Tool Kit". WOW!! This is kind of overwhelming! We've got so much stuff to do. The one thing that struck me as weirdish, was that they want me to put my dog through obidience school. Ugh! I don't know. lol. It's a good idea but I have no clue where to go and how much that stuff costs.

I'm pretty sure we can get some of the other stuff done fairly easily....sorta. I'm hoping every one will work with us and get this stuff done quickly. I'm nervous! Anyways....just wanted to update.
Re: Got our Home Study "Tool Kit"
College transcripts, dog training and a list of all jobs back in college, wow, I guess our home study was super easy! We didn't have to provide any of that, just like our last three jobs or something. We did of course get the physicals. The social worker simply met our dog during a home visit and that was that.
Depending on where you live, if you have a community center or whatever or if you get a brochure from the school district with "fall community classes" or something, check that for the dog training. We live in a smaller town and they offer these classes and my parents live in a larger city and they do the same. The prices were way cheaper than Petsmart.
We have a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix too (Aussie, hence the SN I made before kids). She's a great dog and has been wonderful with our boys (though she does get ticked when our 3 y.o. messes with her tail). Sorry to butt in on your post, I lurk here at times b/c DH and I have considered adopting down the line. I'll go back into hiding now.
Same here!
Weird requirement... but worth it LOL. Check out Petsmart..
I actually think EVERYONE should train all of their dogs. It would make dogs and their humans a lot happier, and prevent a lot of unnecessary re-homing and euthanasia.
You can expect it to be inexpensive (pay $100 for a six- or eight-week class, an hour a week) or more pricey and convenient (a few hundred for private lessons).
