So after my husband was laid off for the summer (expected--he's in the trades) and seeing that he really didn't help me much around the house nor with "childcare" (despite DH being home all week while I work part-time, DS was still sent to daycare while I worked). Instead, he did help with landscaping but that's like me saying "but honey....I got the scrapbook done" (he loves to landscape)
So I told him that he really needed to help me a bit more--dishes, cooking, cleaning, whatever--anything would be better. So what does he do? I get a package the other day and think "wtf???" He ordered an iRobot Scooba (you've heard of those iRobot vaccuums, right?)--well, this one cleans the floor with water and even sweeps up a bit. I'm not going to lie---it's actually pretty cool and cleaned most of our kitchen in about 45 minutes while DH and I watched TV after DS went to sleep. And I had it clean my master bath which I hate cleaning---and it turned out great!!
But really husband??? I ask for help and you get a robot??? So I've got a dishwasher to help me with dishes, a slow cooker to help me with dinner.....I just need something to help with windows and folding laundry and I'm all set.
Really though--I do love that thing and love my husband for doing that. I just thought it was somewhat comical. Only a man would be like "how can I get a robot to help my wife"
Re: So I asked my husband for help around the house....
It worked way better than I expected. He got it off of woot.com so maybe check back every so often. I know they have the vaccuums on there sometimes too. Amazon has a ton and you can read the reviews. Gotta say--Scooby the Scooba (as I've nicknamed it for now) really is neat. But loud.

That's great - how did your DS react to that?
DD hates the vacuum, she probably would freak with that thing running around
Both times we used it DS wasn't around to see it. I think he'll laugh at it--he loves the "real" vaccuum. I'm afraid he'll try to ride it to be honest! LOL

Darn.....I have to look at the corners??? Actually I heard that they don't do too great in corners--but I'd rather do a quick wipe of those than the whole floor. LOL
