It's progessive waiting. You put LO down as normal and then wait before you go in to soothe (not pick up). You wait a little longer each time. Gradually LO gets the picture and starts to self soothe instead of you doing it for them.
But I agree with previous poster....for something this serious you need to find the time to read up on it yourself. That way you know the in's and out's before you start.
I have to concur that you should really read the book. It's not a dense read, and you can skip sections that don't apply. I thought I knew what progressive waiting was (sounds simple enough), but felt MUCH more confident in using it after I actually read Ferber's book.
Thanks! I was looking for general information first. If I decided to look into it more, I would read the book for sure. I have read Babywise and the Baby Whisperer books front-to-back and am just thinking about a different perspective at this time. Thanks again!
