This is my second pregnancy. With my first, I wanted Big Macs and french fries ALL the TIME!! I had M/S for oh, 8 months and that was the only thing that EVER sounded good. I even lost 10lbs before I started gaining weight. This time around, all I ever want to eat is apples, oranges, salads and water, but because of the nausea, I cant eat very much, so I'm technically eating fewer calories than before I was pregnant. IS THIS OK???
Re: Eating healthy, but fewer calories...
You really only should eat about 300 extra calories for your baby, thats really not alot if you look at the calories on certain foods. Eating salads and fresh fruits and vegitables are way healthier than big macs and really if you think about it your giving you baby more calories eating salads and fruits than eating big macs, they have nothing good in them and are virtually empty calories.
The best thing to do is eat when your hungry, and I know nausciousness is the worst I try to eat as much as I can for my baby. Crackers reallllyyyyy help when your nauscious!! Also always check with your doctor, every woman is different and every pregnancy is different. It is ok if you eat fewer calories, you should eat when you need to and satisfy your cravings.
