::Jessknell::

I'm loving the hats that I've seen so far and considering buying one.  Can you list out the hats that you've done?  I'm trying to think of what animal I'd like, but it's hard going through old posts.

  • I'm not trying to be a b*tch and I might get flamed for this, but aren't you basically selling these hats on here?  By posting pictures of your hats that you are making you are sort of advertising.  I think this is against the TOS.

I'm not trying to advertise, just trying to communicate with the bumpie whom the hat belongs to when I post pictures of the hat.  That's why my titles of the the posts always have the bumpie's name in it.

I haven't been told anything about it being against TOS.

Well, yeah but it'd be one thing if you someone just saw the hat and said, that's cute where can I get one.  It's another thing to use the bump to do business.  I think you are crossing the line when you post finished goods on the bump for everyone to see.

If I were a professional photographer and I posted proofs on TB, I would get banned right away.  There are a lot of work-from-home moms who sell Avon, or Tupperware, or have Etsy shops or whatever, and they are not coming on here posting their latest products saying "oh look, SallyUser, here is your awesome new lipgloss", because if they did the board would quickly become one big advertisement.

It is against TOS.  On the photography board, they aren't allowed to post the name of their businesses at all, because it's that strict.  I just think you are kind of crossing the line, and you should let business be business.  Your hats are cute, and I don't have a problem with you at all, but them's the rules.

But how about someone like me who saw her finished hat and wanted one? I would have not seen the hats if she had not posted her finished goods... Plus she doesnt post her etsy site on her siggy like I have seen others do... Proofs is one thing because isnt it illegal to even copy proofs without permission?

Okay, still not sure how I'm advertising.  I'm not posting my etsy site, I've never posted pricing.  I make posts intended for the person who's name is in the title and if other people are interested and open the post, I have no control over that.  I don't post saying "Hey I made this, you should buy it from me".  I understand if you have a beef about the issues with posting photo proofs but that's your issue, not mine.

I intend to continue to post pictures of the completed hats for the people who ordered them. I'll consider not puting in the title of the post that it's about hats but everyone is going to know so I can't help that.

Bullsh*t.  Now you are irritating me.  I'm not going to report you, because I don't feel the need to tattle, but this is BS and it's not fair to everyone else who has stuff to sell and doesn't use the bump to do it.

I don't sell anything, including photos, so it's not my problem.  You are selling your hats on the bump.  At some point it went from being a side thing where a couple people asked about your hats, to you out and out doing business on the bump.  I don't care if you don't title your posts "hats for sale", it's pretty obvious that's what's going on.

Wow, just wow. Think what you will, I'm not actively advertising and trying to sell my hats on the bump.  I've seen several other bumpies actually post their websites and such when someone has asked where people buy things.  I've never done that I only respond when someone specifically asks me.  I can't help that people like my hats.

Wow!  You really seem to care a lot, to get so worked up.  Honestly, if it bugs you that much just hit "Ignore Bumpie".  She's not doing anything against TOS.  It's not a big deal.

By posting a pic to another bumpie (which doesn't have your name in the title, so no need for you to open said post), is she hurting you?  Is she hurting your family?

Put things in perspective.  If this really bothers you so much, perhaps you should take another bumpcation to get your priorities straight.

I think you are confusing me with someone else because I never took a bumpcation.  You are worried about my priorities because of one post?  That's so ridiculous.

it is against TOS.  It's soliciting.

It doesn't bother me THAT much.  I am tired of the hat spam, as I'm sure are about 5,000 other people.

Nah, I'm not confusing you with anyone.  You've been in and out for awhile.  Not posting as much as you used to on 3-6.  I'm not worried about you or your priorities at all.  Just making an observation, that if you're getting yourself so worked up about this, perhaps you should take a step back.

Again, feel free to "Block Bumpie", then you won't have to see the "hat spam".

I am aware of the block feature.  Thanks for the unsolicited advice.  I'll do exactly what I want to do when I want to do it.  As long as I'm not, oh I don't know, violating the TOS, then I don't really care what you think about it.

OMG what a clever picture!  I've never EVER seen anyone on the bump make a reference to big girl panties before!  Hmm

I was not at all rude initially, I was pointing out to this poster that she is possibly violating the TOS.  The  reason I did it was primarily because I have seen other posters on other boards get banned for less soliciting than this, and also because I'm a little sick of all the hat posts, but maybe that's just me.  JessKnell got defensive about her right to sell these hats on the bump.  It annoyed me at the time, but I'm hardly worked up about it.  Especially 6 hours later.  I happen to be watching Chuck, eating vanilla ice cream, and having a fairly peaceful evening.

None of this was directed towards you.  Are you just looking to get involved in some drama or what?  Maybe you are the one who should be finding something better to do with your time...

Sassy, you missed the point of the pic.  It wasn't about big girl panties, per se.  It's because you sound like the little girl on the commercial with what you said, hence "I'm a big girl now!"

So. It IS against the TOS to SOLICIT on the boards. According to THIS definition of solicit, I don't believe that JessKnell is soliciting. However, I think it falls in the eye of the beholder.

  • SB!   Welcome to the party.

She posts pictures of hats that she could make.  She takes orders.  She posts pictures of finished hats.  Then in the same thread, she takes orders for more hats (by saying "yeah I can make that, send me a PM).  I guess I don't see how this can possibly NOT be soliciting.

  • Jessknell, when I get my hat I'm going to post a crapton of pictures and tell everyone where I got it.  Nobody can even suggest a violation of TOS because I'm not gaining anything monetarily and it'll be just another of the million product raves on here, like for A+A blankets or the baby crack machine.

I'm no genius and I definitely don't pretend to be. I also really should not join this party because I love y'all and don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

I think Jess is not breaking the TOS by posting the hats she has made for Bumpies, however I can see where the bolded is soliciting. Ughhhh, that doesn't make any sense.

Okay, IMO. Jess, I think you paging Bumpies with their hats is fine, but sass is right, you could clean it up a bit by not discussing any business at all on the board. I mean, strictly PM. I mean, obviously do what you want. I'm just interjecting my opinion where it doesn't belong. What I mean is, like if any old lurker could open your page and wonder what/why the person you paged is getting such a cute hat. Could it be a gift? Could you be BFF's? I think if there were no way to deduce that you were selling them, it would not be considered soliciting.

Sorry if that makes no sense.
